So which teams currently seem to have the fewest haters but tons of likeable features that it's impossible not to root for them if your favorite sports team in the league is eliminated or out of contention. Like teams with the most outside fan support and least amount of haters
In the NHL: -Winnipeg Jets has to be number one because their return still feels surreal
-Colorado Avalanche because they are an exciting fast offensive team with Patrick Roy as colourful as ever coaching them and Joe Sakic leading them to glory again except as management
-San Jose Sharks because everything has always been so f***ing cool with them. From logos to the name to the jerseys. They are one of the biggest hardest hitting teams and been one of the best offensive teams for decades now.

They are hated just as much, if not more than they are loved. I, for one, despise them & are glad they are poor so far this season.

Worldwide I'd say Manchester United, Liverpool, Barcelona, and Real Madrid
Below that, AC Milan, Inter, Benfica and Juventus.

The Yankees and Red Sox are the most hated teams in baseball, they're also the most popular. The Cowboys, Steelers, and Pats are hated, but have huge fan bases.

Half the reason the most hated teams are the most hated teams (to me, at least) is that their fans can take their fandom a liiiiittle too far.

With exception to their division, the Saints?
I have yet to really find anyone who utterly despises the Chicago Cubs unless they're Cardinal fans.

Steelers have to be up there.
Maybe the Cowboys? Not an NFL fan though.
I'd say the Spurs but they seem to be hated for being 'boring' (even though they're a lot more exciting now than they used to be), or hated by fans in fellow Western Conference cities.

I don't think Cards fans really "hate" the Cubs so much as we just like to tease them. It's actually one of the more cordial rivalries in sports. It's the Reds we hate these days, as they're more of a contender to the Cards in our division than the Cubs have been lately and the whole Brandon Phillips/Johnny Cueto fallout.

Are people reading the OP? It's not who has the most supporters but which teams are well liked amongst neutrals and have few detractors (outside local/club rivalries), therefore the likes of Man Utd and The NY Yankees don't count. To be honest it's hard to think of many, there's plenty of clubs that are seen as harmless but not many that promote positive feelings towards them. In England maybe AFC Wimbledon due to the way they came into existence but even they had their haters amongst some non-league fans and they aren't exactly well known beyond these shores. They would have been a good answer a few years ago but I think they pissed away a lot of their good will due to Suarez and the way they defend his actions, the t-shirts of support following that racist incident being the low-point. Much the same could be said about Newcastle when it comes to a well respected club pissing away good will albeit for less serious reasons.

Usually I enjoy watching football teams that play good football. EVERY team at some point has done something to piss me off through beating my teams (Arsenal, England) or their antics.
Barcelona and Brazil play great football so I like them. I've enjoyed watching Germany play since the 2010 World Cup which is something I thought I would never enjoy due to their style of football atm. I'm not a massive fan of Liverpool but when Suarez, Coutinho & Sturridge are on it they are a joy to watch. Southampton and Man City have also been exciting to watch, obviously I want Man City to lose due to them being in the title race with Arsenal but I respect the football they are playing under Pellegrini.

I can't speak on soccer, but I'll echo Bravo Echo November in that I've never heard anybody say they outright hate the Cubs. I mean, can you really hate a franchise who hasn't won the big one in so long? That'd just be unfair.
Not sure as far as football goes, but I'd have to wager a guess at a team that hasn't won in a long time, or ever, like the Jags or the Browns (current FO situation aside).

Well in that case, the Cards (especially if you live in the middle of the country). They build their contending teams up through the farm and not so much through big signing after big signing the way other franchises do, and they go out of their way to promote a likable atmosphere.

Manchester United has the most fans world wide of any sports team. Liverpool and Arsenal (I am an Arsenal fan) also generate huge money and how massive followings world wide.
Real Madrid have a huge fanbase and are realistically the greatest sporting club of all time. The other spanish club Barcelona has a huge fan base and can even donate 7 million a year to charity.
