Though I'll admit that it feels kinda weird being the only one here who had that much problems with the episode going by the votes.

Ah yes, sorry, was so long between my reply and there being another new post that I forgot.

Rainbow Dash was not my gripe this episode because to be honest, it was her birthi-versary so she gets a freebie regarding the attention on her.

She was only one part in my whole main gripe with the episode regarding everypony forgot about Pinkie as soon as Cheese Sandwich was arriving.

One poster noted that the reaction of the others was probably because they thought Pinkie and Cheese would be working together on Dashie's party. That point was indeed brought up...before Cheese started his first song about being a super-duper party pony. After that it was all "Let's party down with Cheese!", "Your party sounds simply divine", "We're so lucky to have you here.", "I want to have children with you, Cheese Sandwich", "Please become our new mayor!" (ok, I made some of them up )

Rainbow Dash even off-handedly commented that now her party was gonna be epic compared to Pinkie's fun and sweet affairs (and no, saying "no offense" afterwards doesn't make it any better). And then saying "You're my kind of party pony, Cheese Sandwich!"

Then, Twilight and Pinkie have their convo with Twilight asking Pinkie "if she isn't gonna help Cheese Sandwich plan the party" as if Pinkie is now just a supporter to the grand designs of the almighty cheese. Then of course Pinkie answers that Cheese can do it all by himself and that seems enough of an answer for Twilight to just smile and nod and just go right back doing her business. Yeah, its not like Pinkie was an important party planner in Ponyville or anything.


Really, all my problems with the episode would have been solved by doing the following: After Cheese does his song, he becomes co-host with Pinkie. They present Dash with some ideas and Dashie seems to like Cheese's more and more (just because they seem more exciting, not because she's being a douche), saddening Pinkie until after enough she goes home (accompanied by one or two friends who ask her if everything's OK etc.). Then the episode can proceed like it did.

But instead we have everypony blowing sugar up Cheese's end like he is the second coming of Party Jesus, everypony having no problem with forgetting about the prime party planner in Ponyville (incl. her so-called five best friends) and this just causes me to blow a gasket with this one.

Intriguing.

I guess it's just my normal humility, but I don't make a huge fuss about my birthday at my age, let alone get my WHOLE FREAKIN' TOWN to throw me a party (might be a big difference between a small town of cartoon horses numbered in the 100-200 range and a southern suburb of Sydney of approximately 17 to 18 thousand). Hell, I won't even be home for it this year since I'll be in Melbourne for the Formula 1, but my family are insisting that we do something when I get back...

Either way, dammit Rainbow Dash. Your ego's bigger than Ponyville itself in this one.
