So - is this a situation where Punk's career may have been cut short by a concussion and doc's wouldn't clear him? Interesting if that's the case. Maybe it was going to be a kayfabe concussion to get him off tv until they could figure out where to go with him if his angle was changed after Royal Rumble?

The way Punk has been talking about planing to retire from active wrestling in the next few years, the way he's been able to use his celebrity to build a speaking and tv appearance career I could easily see Punk either leaving WWE for good for a few years and do some indie gigs and other media appearances or just stop wrestling all together.

from what I know of his moveset I suppose this give WWE a reason to sign KENTA Get his some tats and introduce him as Asian CM Punk JR comes back. HI EVERYONE IM BACK AND IM PISSED OFF! WELL I GOT A GREAT SURPRISE FOR YOU! HERES CM PUNK! I BROUGHT HIM BACK! YALL ARE MAD AT GOOD OLD JR! That reminded me of how IMO lousy a heel JR was. I'm supposed to boo him because he got fired for something petty? As excessive as it was, at least when Vince ribbed him down the road, JR was a face and Mr. McMahon was thoroughly evil.

To follow up on the Casey Kulas tweets My post from page 13: I think he has a concussion, at least that was hinted by Pat Buck and he's close buddies with a lot of guys in the company. This is the episode twoandahalfwrestlers.com/80-the-great-debate/I don't remember at what part of the episode they talk about Punk, but Pat Buck said something like: "I heard that Punk has suffered a concussion (last night at Rumble). The news didn't hit news by now so I'm not sure how severe it is." Most times he has more knowledge about certain things because Ryback is his best buddy and he's close with a lot of guys from NY and guys that were with him in developmental.

Seems WWE has an obsession with kayfabe concussions right after someone gets a real concussion. Would be awesome for Punk to call them out on that.

Punk might be gone, Bryan went from beating Cena clean and looking like he was going to vanquish The Authority and win the title at Mania to that going to Batista, at least Bryan will face Triple H, and Cena went from main eventing back to back Manias against The Rock (2 highest grossing Manias of all time), to what looks like a Mania program with Bray Wyatt (I like Bray, but that is a huge step down). At least there's still The Shield being booked perfectly. I don't give a shit about a Triple H match, even if Bryan destroys him. Triple H is an old worn out act. He's in a position of power and I haven't given a SHIT about the guy since 2006. It doesn't help that they won't knock it off with this horseshit badass ego stuff. I can only imagine the build to Mania being the same shit we've heard Trips say a thousand other times. Oh...and he'll get the verbal BJ from his opponent though. As a fan, I don't want a consultation prize...I want what I've been asking for for MONTHS. Not later. Now. I don't give a shit about Batista. I don't give a shit about the New Age Outlaws. I don't give a shit about Hogan, Piper or the McMahons. I don't give a shit about Sting. They all had their f***ing time. If you want me to mark for them, put them in the HOF or give them a DVD. Quit with the tired bullshit. Do something new. Do something fresh. Try something different. How hard is that the understand? They booked a MESS. The booked a mess because they were too insistent on their own ideology and ignorance. And as a result of that, I hope their PPV numbers and Network numbers plummet, because they deserve to. As far as the Shield is concerned, I don't expect that to last either. WWE is about as subtle as ground zero of a construction site that a split is imminent. We all know that Reigns will get that wonderful push to the moon that we've all seen before, that is the most manufactured unnatural thing ever, that 3 months after he wins the title, the fans turn on it. I've seen it too many times to really be bothered to care. Ladies and gentlemen, the post I've been trying to make since SummerSlam

He left before KENTA could find him. You're one of my favorite posters XD. As for Punk, he hasn't done anything worth noting since Summerslam. He's one of my favorite wrestlers of all time and hopefully this break recharges his batteries.

My info on CM Punk: I do know from sources that at #Raw in CLE there was heated exchange backstage between Punk & staff. Topic - concussion. — Casey Kulas (@caseykulas) January 29, 2014 Punk was heard arguing with staff saying "I passed all your damn concussion test" and "I'm not going out and telling fans that BS" — Casey Kulas (@caseykulas) January 29, 2014 Oh great, now I want to hear what that supposed BS is! It's the sort of thing that can usually be put down as smark-bait but seems to be coming from a legit source. I'm beginning to doubt my usual stance of assuming anything related to Punk's contract is a work, there doesn't seem to be enough of an upside for WWE at this precise moment.

Does anyone have any specifics on how the WWE Network will changes wrestlers' pay for Wrestlemania or any other PPVs? No specifics, but simple logic tells me that if they go from charging $50 or whatever per buy to having all PPVs included in a $60 package that the guys aren't going to be getting those huge paydays anymore. I could be wrong on that but I don't see how they could. Ok, but to play Devil's Advocate, could wrestlers theoretically get paid more money for those lesser PPVs that don't normally sell as well, but since they are part of the WWE network package, the "buys" will be up? I wouldn't dare try to come up with some hypothetical formula, but if each monthly pay per view has increased viewership, shouldn't they be getting more money despite the cost being spent by the audience is smaller?

It would add a lot of real salt in the wound for the Rock to be the one to come out and shit talk Punk for leaving.

I wouldn't dare try to come up with some hypothetical formula, but if each monthly pay per view has increased viewership, shouldn't they be getting more money despite the cost being spent by the audience is smaller? But like... ok say 1.5x the people who buy Wrestlemania buy the network, so it's like a generous 800k domestic buys. that's like 300k buys at $60 spread across the remaining 5 PPVs, including Summerslam. So money-wise it's like Wrestlemania did the same and all 5 of those PPVs got 50k domestic buys. Granted they get more of that money than they would going through PPV companies, but even if they double their money earned per dollar spent it's still 100k buys which would be a dismal Summerslam or MITB figure. For context the rumor is that Battleground and Hell in a Cell combined for 363k buys (worldwide), which prompted no small amount of panic. I guess that's all conjecture, who knows how it's going to work out. Current key performance indicators buyrate chart for 2011-2013 ( ir.corporate.wwe.com/Cache/1001181648.PDF?Y=&O=PDF&D=&fid=1001181648&T=&iid=4121687 ): Imagine that being a flat line around the 50-150 mark and it's a concern if those spikes are your livelihood.

I think it would be better if he made his protest public, like he did at the Rumble.
Come down to the ring, curl up in a fetal position in the corner and just lay there. It was fascinating drama and proved how he is, indeed, the best in the world ... at laying on the mat doing nothing in one of the biggest PPVs of the year.

Plus, you'd think WWE would have something of a mention of it on their site if they wanted to do something with it. The only thing mentioning it is the Twitter feed at the bottom of the Superstars page where Austin mentioned that he'll be taking calls about the Bryan and Punk situations on Monday.

I'm assuming some of the WWE Network money will be going to the people in the archive footage. I expect that may be part of the reason why WWE have been so keen to mend fences with old wrestlers in recent years. That's before you get to other content that has to paid for (like Legend's House) and the general expenses incurred in setting up and maintaining such a service.
