It's not news, but...hey, he knows HHH, right? I have faith CM Punk will end up a major part of Mania. WWE is THE Show & Punk is a big enough part of THE Show to be needed for the Mania — Sean Waltman (@therealxpac) January 30, 2014 I think I just got an association 'high' just reading that Will you stop?! Oh, wait...

I think there's enough overlap between Bryan's fans and Punk's, plus a widespread theory of Punk possibly having done it in part because of Bryan's booking, that Bryan won't suffer for it. If anything, the person I see really paying for this is Batista - the guy was already basically doomed but this is just going to intensify it.

It's a more socially active audience, sure, but I still think people overstate just how much interest is paid to 'news' about the show as opposed to the show itself. We shouldn't transpose our own interest in terms of the 'behind the curtain' area of the industry onto people who just like watching the show. It's not a mystery to all and people will notice he isn't there but I think if you take the 4m or so viewers they have, I'd say probably quite a lot, if not a majority, are fairy unaware of the whole thing. TV show plots, spoilers and departures are revealed in mainstream media all the time yet most people will still be 'shocked' a death or a plot twist. Just because information is out there, even on mainstream sources, doesn't mean it's being accessed. You can find out the plot to any upcoming soap or drama series you care to name yet because a casual audience will take a casual interest in the show, the chances of them seeking out news on Dallas or the Bold and the Beautiful, or whatever, I don't think are great. Okay, let's just see how they react on Monday. Let's see how you react to the massive CM Punk chants that are absolutely going to happen. Dude, they're gonna be in Omaha, Nebraska. Aka Smarktown, USA! It won't be an accurate sample of the WWE Universe.

You know, about the whole "Bryan losing fans and Punk gaining them back" thing will easily be solved. This isn't like the Summer of Punk where it was a storyline that Punk was the only white hot guy and they made his leave out to be some huge deal. Punk just left here. The fact is that it can easily be solved. Bryan's also the hottest guy in the company and believe it or not fans cheer for more than 1 wrestler.
This is how I see Punk's return.
I see a Raw starting up and then Punk comes out. Everyone cheers. Punk says he just had a few bad months and he's back, he apologizes to the fans. Punk says he's tired of how it is and he's tired of Bryan not getting his chance. Afterwards someone attacks Punk (idk the Shield) and boom, Bryan saves him. Crowd enters the Yes Chant and boom, back to status quo. All it takes is Punk and the WWE not making a huge deal about Punk leaving on air and focus all of the energy on Bryan's push and we're good to go.

The entire discussion of what an "employee owes an employer" is moot, because Punk, as a WWE wrestler, isn't an "employee" to begin with. Independent contracting means Punk can leave whenever he feels like it, and WWE doesn't have to pay him if he does. I didn't even think of that! WWE's wording comes back to bite them in the ass.

I don't really see a way that Batista can avoid being booed. He's pretty much always going to be the guy associated with the huge f*** up at the Royal Rumble. I guess turning him heel could work even though that'd mean Orton either turns face or loses the title.

K, I'll play devil's advocate here, feel free to flame me: I seem to recall Nash and Hogan pulling these kind of antics in WCW, and today they are blamed for the companies demise. And just suppose that Cena or Orton had done this-would there be this many pages on any forum, with this many expressions of sympathy and support?

Punk is not AJ Anyway I had a feeling he was going to leave some time last year or this year. He's had his major title run, he's tried the streak. Honestly is there anything left for Punk to do? I guess if I had to pick, it would be to have the main event at mania and maybe putting Batista in the match was the last straw. It's a damn shame.

Putting him with Kane's an awful lot like saying "Yeah creative has nothing for you". I'd rather have an unmotivated Punk resting and playing games with contract negotiations than putting himself in danger going through the motions because it's expected of him, giving performances his heart's not in.

If Del Rio walked out on bad terms it might be the madre of all shoot interviews.

Of course Gorilla Monsoon waits until the thread goes slower to post his trolling nonsense. Nah, Monsoon just posts unpopular opinions--they're his opinions, though. People troll on him because they don't agree with it and automatically treat his opinion as inferior rubbish. People make personal attacks on him often, I never see him make personal attacks on others. Just my opinion on the matter.
