Also games can be flexed between FOX and CBS. WHAT? I can understand moving up the flexing for Sunday Night games, but flexing between networks makes no sense. I'd assume they could only flex AFC v NFC games...just an assumption though. Seriously though flexing from week 5?? Gonna suck to be non fans of the 9ers, Seahawks, Broncos, and Patriots

Ex-Colts and Cowboys C Phil Costa said physical concerns are the reason he decided to retire at age 26. That makes sense, but it still screwed the Colts over. Khaled Homes does not appear to be the answer and the Colts don't have a first round pick to ensure that they can draft a top notch center. I hate hoping someone falls in the draft. I really hope all the rumors about various teams wanting QBs are true. Everyone can draft QBs in the first round, letting 1st round talents fall to the second. [crosses fingers]

Good luck trying to find a game on television this fall. "What channel is the Broncos-Patriots game on?" "Oh, it's on CBS at 1. Unless it got flexed to FOX. Or if it got flexed to 4:25. Then again, it could have also have been flexed to FOX at 4:25. Or it could be the Sunday night game."

The NFL is trying to drive up viewership with all of this flex scheduling of marquee match ups. One has to wonder how this affects the jobber teams, if at all.

The NFL is trying to drive up viewership with all of this flex scheduling of marquee match ups. One has to wonder how this affects the jobber teams, if at all. The way the NFL can spin it is that it gives the middling teams an opportunity to shine under the bright lights of primetime. Let's say around week 8 we have Broncos vs. Patriots set for Sunday Night Football. Let's say Peyton Manning and Tom Brady get injured and both teams are 2-5 entering week 8. Now, let's say the Browns draft Johnny Manziel and he turns out to be a phenom, and miraculously, the Jacksonville Jaguars are off to a blistering 7-0 start, and they just so happen to be playing in week 8. Now the NFL can flex out a potential Manning-less, Brady-less game pitting Brock Osweiler against Ryan Mallett in exchange for a matchup of a star in the making against an unbeaten.

Just got an update on the NFL app that Thanksgiving Day will feature absolutely ZERO AFC teams. So it's guaranteed that CBS will show an all-NFC matchup on Thanksgiving.

Seems to me that Seahawks/Niners or Seahawks/Broncos make more sense than Hawks/Packers as the opener.

Seems like they're building to the first Hawks/Niners game, to let it all bubble, instead of blowing half the load on the first night.

Seems to me that Seahawks/Niners or Seahawks/Broncos make more sense than Hawks/Packers as the opener. As for the Niners, it's been said that the NFL wanted them to open at home (likely on SNF) to showcase Levi's Stadium.

Only one Niners vs Seahawks game gets the primetime slot, but I'm thinking that week 15 game will get flexed (right now it's Cowboys vs Eagles). And the Niners have a brutal final 5 weeks, the easiest game is at Oakland, there's 2 games against Seattle, a game against San Diego, and a game against Arizona.
But Seattle might have the most brutal way to end a season. In their final 7 games, they're on the road against Philadelphia and Kansas City, 2 games against San Francisco and Arizona, and close the season against St Louis.
The NFC West is going to come down to the end of the season.

Considering the Patriots are without the services of Brandon Browner for the first four games of the season, they have a relatively favorable start, against Ryan Tannehill and the Dolphins, Matt Schaub and the Raiders, Matt Cassel (?) and the Vikings, and Alex Smith and the Chiefs.
They could have been pitted against the likes of Andrew Luck, Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers, Matthew Stafford, Jay Cutler, or Philip Rivers, but they managed to avoid all of them. If all goes according to plan, the secondary will have its horses for the real heavy-duty quarterbacks.

Glad we host Seattle on Thanksgiving, turkey isn't the only bird we'll be roasting that night!
