Little from column A, little from column B. You can't take anything away from the Seahawks because they showed up to play ball while the Broncos didn't, but the Broncos definitely made it easier for the Hawks by not matching what the Seahawks were giving them. I can't WAIT for the rematch this season; I have the Hawks winning, but I guarantee it'll be a lot more competitive than whatever the hell the Super Bowl was.

I like the attitude from JT and to a degree he is right but Seattle was winning that game even if Denver played perfect. It would not have been the soul crushing slaughter it was if Denver didn't fail so much but it was still going to be an L.

I basically means "We aren't mature enough to accept that they were the better team than we were", which in an ass-kicking they received, they were easily the better team.

I'd rather a team of players who think that as long as they execute they cannot be beat than anyone who accepts a beating like that as all the other team's doing. If you're a pro, you should never feel that you can be or have been outclassed, IMO.

But don't just completely say that we would have won if we didn't play like garbage, which is what this guy is basically saying.

Saying that you beat yourself means that you are being critical of yourself. Of course, the other team had to show up to play as any team of professionals would, but it is better than saying that you tried and failed. Being critical means that you double down and work to improve your own failings.

49ers exercised OLB Aldon Smith's fifth-year club option for 2015.
ESPN's Chris Mortensen stated on NFL Insiders that the Rams' interest in Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel is "genuine."

Beating yourself is when you drop a crucial pass in the endzone of a close game. It's tripping when trying to chase down a runner. It's making a bad read that allows your QB to be plastered on a big conversion attempt. It relies on the notion that they, you know, could have won the game aside from a few instances of nerves or lapsed judgement. But the Broncos couldn't win that game.
The reason they didn't do those things is because the Seahawks stopped them from doing it. They have a highly predictable offense that was just used to being able to outgun anything they came game against, but Seattle was perfectly built to stop it. Meanwhile, the defense could barely stop me for a whole game.
The whole "we beat ourselves" attitude is fine if the game came down to a few breaks that didn't go your way. This one didn't, and that attitude just cements the idea that they're not going to learn or try to change what they do to accommodate a clearly superior opponent.

If it's like a one score game or something, you can make a case for a play or two going wrong 'beating yourselves'. When you have had your ass kicked from the opening play of the game and are clearly outclassed all the way around, you got beat.

Yeah, Julius Thomas needs to get smacked in the back of the head by one of his teammates for making stupid comments like that. You just got beat....accept it and try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Bears GM Phil Emery revealed he recently did a "study" that showed late-round quarterback draft picks aren't worth the trouble.
Some people seem to believe late-round QBs can be "developed," but it doesn't happen. "That developmental theory doesn't hold a whole lot of water," Emery said. "So who has gotten developed? There isn't a single quarterback after the third round since 2006 that has been a long-term starter. ... And most of them (third-round QBs) have been wiped out of the league."

Most QB's drafted don't end up as long term starters. It's probably even harder for an early pick because they're naturally going to go to an awful team that can't protect them, so they'll pick up bad habits more often than not.
