*During Ric Flair vs Sting at Clash of the Champions* Jim Ross: This right here is a main event anywhere in the world. I would hope so, Ross, since it's a f***ing World title match and all. When Gorilla said that about a jobber vs jobber match it was try and get the audience to give a damn.

Oh ok, thanks for the clarification. It sounds close enough I guess lol. Still shocking cause they've been eliminating really close Jimmy Hart Versions of songs (most infamously, DDP's Nirvana knock off). On the Virtual Console for the Wii, they actually edited arcade Ninja Gaiden because of a similar Iron Man ripoff.

I learned that Jim Ross' pencil is sharp as a dickens. I also learned from JR that you can be poked in the eye violently. Before, I thought there was only one way.

I learned that during a Kevin Sullivan/Dusty Rhodes "grudge match" that Al Perez using a chain on Dusty in front of the referee isn't grounds for a DQ and that Dusty can somehow pin Gary Hart to win the match.

Max Moon actually got an Intercontinetal Title Shot against HBK on the first Raw.
Crush has a weird voice that I can't comprehend accent wise. I don't remember him talking like that when he was with Bryan Clarke in Kronik. Its like some bizarre spanish/somoan hybrid accent. The hell?
Terry Taylor wore the same jacket he wore as Red Rooster that he did in his 1992/1993 run.
A really loud, "This match sucks!" chant during Perfect/Taylor from the 2nd episode of Raw. Gotta love the pre-cursor to the ECW crowd.
I had no idea that Stu Hart was 78 by 1993. He must've had Bret late in life.
Weird as hell to see Undertaker doing a promo for a benefit for Somalian Relief Fund. Way out of character and I lose the seriousness of it by having Paul Bearer be the one speaking about it.

Pro wrestling loved the Michael Faye caning incident. Obviously you had the "Singapore Caning Match" between Tommy Dreamer and The Sandman down in ECW, with The Sandman adopting the "Singapore Cane" (actually a kendo stick) as his go to weapon there on out. Now I'm watching WCW Slamboree '94 and during the Terry Funk-Tully Blanchard legends match and Funk whips Blanchard with his branding iron and Heenan says how Funk was "caning" Tully with the iron, probably because he was caught "spray painting a cow". Then we see a sign in the crowd that "Cain the Brain" which Heenan seems to think means that the fan thinks he should star in a Citizen Kane remake. To which Tony Schiavone advises Heenan to "ask Michael Faye" as to what the sign means. Gotta love when wrestling tries to be topical!

I always thought Madusa was a good wrestler. Well, I watched her from Raw in 1994 and I never realized how good she was speaking. She showed personality and seemed very natural and comfortable when she was a guest on King's Court. She was much better at that aspect of wrestling than most of the Divas from the past few years.

The hell? Crush was Hawaiian so that's the accent. Madusa did have some very solid speaking ability. Nothing that would wow you, but she wasn't lost either. I don't think she was all that great in the ring though. Against fellow American wrestlers she was good, but I thought the times she faced the Japanese women she looked bad. She looked clumsy and awkward, especially the Survivor Series 95 tag match. I thought that was a terrible match.

Watching Great American Bash 2006, which has taken about 10 years this show is ungodly long, and I think I noticed something Jillian Hall did to push up her boobs and make them look bigger. She crossed the straps of her bra and that makes your boobs look bigger and give you more cleavage. Seems oddly low tech. I mean they make push up bras for that same result. I've seen them in action, they do amazing things lol.
Also people at this even did not care at all about seeing women stripped down to their bras and panties. Zero pop for it at all.

I think, in addition to PG coming not super long after, the death of Bra and Panty matches came about just do to burnout. It'd be like if someone won a match in CZW due to having a roll of quarters hidden in their trunks and punching a guy with them. The fans were just jaded at that point to that sort of thing.

PG began in July of 2008 so that was a long while after this PPV, 2 years in wrestling time is like 5 years. I think the problem were the women in the match. It was Ashley, Michelle, Jillian, and Kristal, who objected to being in the match so much that she spread her legs really wide when she got into the ring lol. Plus the match sucked and this was the show where like half the roster had to be pulled because of elevated liver enzymes. Plus this show as a whole just sucked so I think that was more of a factor. Seriously this is a dog of a show. That leads me to something else I've noticed, granted I've only watched from Taboo Tuesday 2004 on, but at least from that point, the Raw branded PPVs are considerably better than the Smackdown branded PPVs. The Raw shows feel like big deals while Smackdown's feel like extended episodes of Smackdown.

You're right, it felt closer to it, I guess, and yeah, uninspiring show and generally lackluster participants didn't help matters either, outside of possible burnout.

If you want to see the exact opposite, watch 2003 PPVs, where the Raw PPVs are extended Monday nights with Triple failing to carrying all the too-late WCW signees to passable matches, while Smackdown was firing on full cylinders with Kurt Angle, Brock Lesnar, Edge, Eddie, Benoit, Rey, World's Greatest Tag Team, and others trying to steal the show from each other. The 2004 Draft is what caused those trends to reverse.

I thought Hogan said the word "brother" a lot, that was until I heard Graham on commentary at Summerslam 88, Hogan is minor league with that. Hogan (in the later stages of his career - I'm talking post Wrestlemania x8 onwards) seemed to pretty much based himself on Billy Graham. He had the same beard and wore the same sort of clothes and colours. I'm pretty sure I remember an interview with Billy Graham where he basically flat out said that Hogan basically owes his career to him because he 'borrowed so much of Grahams mannerisms and style. There were even some clips of him doing some of the flexing that Hogan was known for. It made it seem like Hogan's character was very heavily based on Graham, though admittedly it might have been biased but there was some legitimacy to the accusation.

Didn't realize how deathly Macho Man made his elbow drop look. Everybody sold it like neutron bombs. When you see HBK do it a lot of the times it looks as if he lands on the ring before the elbow hits, whereas Macho lands on the person first, greatly maximizing the move. Still my favorite finisher (Jake DDT second, Stunner third) Makes it that much crazier that he does 5 of them in a row to Warrior in his retirement match and Warrior still beats him. Talk about putting Warrior over.

I learned that RAW shows in Poughkeepsie, NY in 1993 had really bad match graphics. And that was always in Poughkeepsie. Seriously, was their computer department drunk or sth?
And those RAWs at Alexandria Bay must have been pretty hot because the participants sweated profusely there.
