They blew their load on the Nick Patrick crooked referee really fast. For one he refereed practically every match and every match he was in had controversy. It got tedious within about 3 shows.

The Saturday Night's Main Event from 3.11.89 was incredible and bizarre at the same time. The matches featured the following: Rick Rude vs Beefcake Hogan vs Bad News Brown Blue Blazer vs DiBiase Brain Busters vs The Rockers Red Rooster vs Brooklyn Brawler
It also featured who Elizabeth was going to be in the corner of for the main event of WM5. Out of all that loaded of a card, the Red Rooster vs the Brooklyn Brawler was the main event. Not Hogan. Not a very over Beefcake with a very hated Rude. Now, granted they did show Savage freaking out at the end of the show, but it was not given a ton of time. They used this to push the Heenan feud with Rooster, but that could have been in segment 3 of the show. The other awesome part of the show was the Blue Blazer vs Dibiase for two very cool reasons. The first is that the Blazer hit an awesome looking suicide dive through the second room that he finished like a cross body. It looked so much better than a regular suicide dive. The other cool thing was that Dibiase won off of a powerslam reversal.
There was also a sad bit of foreshadowing. In his prematch interview, the Blazer mentioned that he would fly from the rafters if he had to. That left a little lump in my throat.

I learned that Heenan may not of been face-palming at Bischoff's "What difference does it make?" comment about the Giant falling like everyone believes. I think he may of just been continuing to show his concern about whether or not the Giant was OK. I could be wrong but it wasn't as blatant as I've been lead to believe.

Sting and the Steiner Bros. had the exact same theme. The words may have been a little different, but the beat was the exact same.

September 23, 1996 Nitro. Pat Tanaka had Goldberg's music. Very surreal to see someone other than Goldberg use that music. If that's an edit WWE made, then that's a strange edit.

Nope, that's the original edit. I watched that episode not long ago, not on the Network & was like "Hang on? Goldberg?" ![O_o](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/browraise.png)

I think at the time, SNME was up against a big TV show so they put Hogan further down the card as they knew viewers would be tuning into the more popular show later on during SNME

Lex Luger was ridiculously underrated as a performer. So many people over the years have talked about the guy as if he were just the drizzling shits in the ring and on the mic, but that guy could work a crowd into a frenzy. I've been watching all these old Nitros, and Luger is a bright spot of many of them. I don't really see how he's any worse than a guy like Cena or Batista.

I think people think he's bad in the early 90's or even late in his WCW run, 1999 on. He had his moments where he was actually really good in the ring, especially 1997 when he really had to carry the load in the main event.

You know people have been talking about how great Nitro holds up well WCW was on an awesome roll ppv wise from Fall Brawl 95 on. There were some insanely corny things before the nWo started, but there were a lot of good story lines and angles going on.

November 11, 1996 Nitro. Juvi vs. Miguel Perez. Now Miguel is a pretty hairy fella. Bobby Heenan calls him "the guy with the fur shirt". I laughed at this for a solid 5 minutes. I'm still laughing thinking about it.

The Intercontinetal championship is not a household item.
A wood guitar totally is though.

Bray Wyatt wasn't the first wrestler to break out into singing "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands." On Nitro in March of 1996, Ric Flair is in the middle of a promo and starts singing, "I've got the whole world, in my hands!"

The death match between Benoit and Meng at GAB 1997. Heenan was talking about how Benoit locked in the crossface and he said "Benoit probably smothered him to death" I know he couldn't have possibly known, but still a creepy call in retrospect.

There's a funny moment where the "fake fighting" element is exposed during War Games 1995, Luger and Hogan (who are on the same team) team up to beat on Shark, then Luger pats Hogan on the back as a congratulations, and Hogan sells it, apparently thinking it was one of the Dungeon of Doom attacking him from behind.

One of my favourite stories in Mick Foley's autobiography is about a heel who came down to the final two in a battle royal and played to the crowd so the face could knock him over the top rope. A fan threw a box of popcorn at him, it hit him in the back of the head and he sold it so hard he went over the top rope.
