I learned that on the WCW PPV "Greed". Judging by the way the wrestlers and commentators were acting, they had zero idea that the company would be gone 8 days later. At that time everyone thought Bischoff has bought the company and it was staying on the Turner networks. It was a few days after that it all fell apart and WWE came back in the picture.

That Missy Hyatt's oversell of uncovering Paul E. as the Ninja is still as funny as ever.

I've re-learned that wrestling commentary has generally always been god awful, it's not like it's a new thing with the announce team we have today. The one that really got me was the long silent periods during Starrcade '85's commentary. The only thing I remember during those silent periods in the main event was that one guy going Whooo! Dusty Rhodes! Dusty Rhodes!! Whooo! over and over tirelessly.

They said on the MNW DVD that some of the guys at the last Nitro didn't even think the company was folding and that it would be back soon after. Apparently that episode of Nitro was advertised as a 'season finale.'

Apparently that episode of Nitro was advertised as a 'season finale.' I would imagine because, at the time, there was consideration of getting WCW as a brand, like ECW, so it wasn't really in their best interest to shut the doors on that entirely.

That XL shirt was considered one size fits all.
Also during some of the early Royal Rumbles Shane was outside the ring as a ref.

Gorilla liked using X city a lot. Like clothesline city, and powerslam city! which I heard him say back to back in a match

Apparently that episode of Nitro was advertised as a 'season finale.' Yep cause Bischoff originally was planning on taking WCW off tv for a little bit for a rebrand. A lot of WCW guys had said that going into Greed they were all introduced to the group that was buying WCW. Lance Storm and Hurricane even said that most didn't believe that WWF bought the company until Shane showed up. The whole sale of WCW is fascinating though as Jaime Kellner really screwed over Bischoff and Fuscient(?)

Gorilla also liked to use "the x one" when describing a person. I never really thought anything of it until a few years ago hearing him talk about how "The Dusty One" would be returning to the Garden during a MSG show from the late 70s and said "why is he the Dusty One?"

Later WCW PPV's took FOREVER to actually get to the first match.
Why are you fools trying to sell the PPV to people that already bought the damn thing and presumably watched the shows that set up the storylines?

"FAGGOT" chants were very prevalent in WCW in 1997 (Syxx would get them for the bronco buster, Alex Wright for his dance), and it's always unsettling. I just watched a 1990 PPV (either Great American Bash or Halloween Havoc) and there were loud 'Faggot!' chants directed at the Freebirds. It may have been 'Freebirds are Faggots!' I've gone through quite a few late '80s/early '90s NWA/WCW PPVs and I have noticed some anti-gay chants and outbursts from fans.

I just ordered it an hour ago, and I'm watching Survivor Series 2013. So far I've learned regarding that Punk/Bryan vs. Wyatts tag match, I think we gave the "Team Workrate" moniker to the wrong guys.

Fuji referred to him as my Yokozuma Also at King of the Ring he was announced as being from the Polynesian Islands. Yokozuna's early months were very strange. He was being built towards the title but it seemed they didn't know exactly what to call him. Fuji would call him "yokozuma" while Heenan would call him "yokozuno" and Virgil called him "yakazuma" and I think even said "or whatever you call him." His earlier quote was "yosh" but was changed to "banzai" for the remainder. I also remember Polynesian Islands yet Fuji was carrying the Japanese flag and he had the geisha girls. As for Gorilla, I remember most The Natural One (Reed), Ravishing One (Rude), Devious One (Fuji).

Dean Ambrose has a fantastic Dusty Rhodes impression. I can only imagine that Dusty is probably the second most imitated man in wrestling, with maybe only Randy Savage beating him, beating out even Hogan. It's just fun to talk like a fat white guy who sounds like the black woman from Tom and Jerry, which is a joke I know I make a lot but it really does fit.

-Good guys and bad guys didn't really hate each other at the first WrestleMania. Mean Gene would interview one guy in front of the backdrop, then as soon as the guy barely left the shot, his opponent would walk into view and do his part. -Hearing an early "Brutus Beefcake" being announced without his nickname "The Barber" just doesn't sound right. -Killer Tim Brooks never aged; he was probably born looking like he was 43. -Kevin Sullivan will no-sell an atom bomb dropped directly onto his head. Wait, why would anyone drop Brian Adams on Kevin Sullivan's head? Him being dead notwithstanding, it just seems so Wile. E. Coyote.

Apparently that episode of Nitro was advertised as a 'season finale.' I think the episode of Monday Nitro and the last episode of Saturday Morning Slam are the only wrestling shows I can recall having a "season finale". Which is weird when you consider every fall Raw and Smackdown has a "season premiere".
