Speaking of newcomers, a nice start for Noelle Benvenuti.

I gave the episode an 8, another story where there weren't any huge flaws but nothing that really stood out as super great. Save for Maud going all Hokoto No Ken on that rock.
And now I look forward to the seeing the fans dubbing this song over that scene.

The resolution was a bit slapdash, but up until tha, it was the funniest episode in the series.

*looks up at Eunos' picture, before looking over at Goemon.*
Goemon, I believe you need to pay a visit to our friend Lapis.
*Goemon steps forward, clicking his sword open a little.*

"Maud Pie"...gets a 10/10 from me.
What I liked about this episode:
-Maud Pie was an awesome One-Shot character. I just loved her emotionless reaction to anything, her interest mainly in rocks and that, despite her demeanour, she does care about her sister Pinkie Pie very much although as she says, she doesn't express her joy the same way Pinkie does. Sure, if she would be a recurring character, that shtick would become a big bore fairly quick, but for a one-time appearance, it had just the right amount of flavour.
-Speaking of her sister, Pinkie Pie went a great deal up with my good graces again after this one. This is the Pinkie I love and would love to see more often (only seen her in "Pinkie Pride" so far). A random, insane character who can still sense when something is wrong and who reacts to things around her. Give me more Pinkie portrayals like this and she might work her way up again.
-I generally liked this being a more character-based episode where things were handled in a fairly realistic manner. There could have been many ways to go wrong with this episode (like having the mane six pretend to like Maud, Pinkie being totally oblivious to them getting to tell her that they don't get along, Maud being effected by the others to become a happy smiling pony for eternity etc.), but they chose all the correct directions. Nopony felt out-of-character, the mane five being honest with Pinks and her sensing that something's wrong was a great scene and Maud being honest with everything and enjoying their bond in her special way was a great touch. That was the strong point of this one.
-Also loved the humor coming from Maud's rock obsession, the mane five's different one-to-one encounters with Maud, the critters etc.. It was a more subdued humor but I liked it regardless.
What I didn't like about this episode:
-Well, there is one small thing...but it wasn't enough to derail my enjoyment of this episode. I will say it in a while.
So, "Maud Pie" is a 10/10 for me.

Actually, no, Alice-chan.
It was just the scene where Pinkie Pie was stuck and in danger of getting smashed by a rock...while Twilight and Rarity (also counting in Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy to a part) stood there flabbergasted and didn't do anything.

*looks up at Eunos' picture, before looking over at Goemon.* Goemon, I believe you need to pay a visit to our friend Lapis. *Goemon steps forward, clicking his sword open a little.* A thief and his swordsman have no evidence I had done such to the unworthy.
But you do have motive
