I never watched the full movie until last night, but was wondering what people thought of it? It had some decently funny moments, but nothing really hilarious. Also, as for the actors did anyone else think Josh Hartnett would have been a bigger star than he turned out being. Also Shannyn Sossamon was not nearly as hot as I remembered.

Honestly, the rape scene kinda creeps me out, and given how glossed over it was, that sort of kills it for me.

Josh Hartnett was definitely being positioned in the very late 90's-very early 2000's to be a break out star, but it just never really happened.

If this movie was made a few years later I think it would have been taken out or changed considerably. It's like Harnett's character gets raped and then his love interest is mad at him over it. WTF!

Yeah, though he has at least had some good roles, like his part in the Sin City film, and presumably the sequel. A small part, but a good one all the same.

She didn't know that though ... I haven't seen it in awhile but I'm pretty sure she just sees whatshername coming out of his apartment.

Wait...never seen it, but there's a RAPE scene in this teen comedy? Harnett's character makes a vow to not have sex, get physical, or even masturbate for Lent (though its Hollywood so the schedule doesn't quite work like actual Lent), largely to refocus and get over his ex-girlfriend. He meets a new girl he really falls for and they plan to sleep together right after Lent. During the film a money bet is made by his coworkers as to when he'll break his vow. His emotional manipulative ex-girlfriend, already trying to lure him back, learns of the bet, shows up at his apartment, and (as he's handcuffed himself to the bed to avoid the temptation to self pleasure) has sex with him while he's asleep, only for him to wake him just as they finish. She then walks out, the new girl spots her, and the male main character has to apologize to his new girlfriend for himself being sexually assaulted by his ex, while the latter gets off scott free. Romantic, no?

Let's all stop for a second and think about how many people had to greenlight, fund, film, distribute and screen one of the most carelessly vile scenarios I've ever heard into a PG-13 film.

It was actually R rated (I actually decided to watch it because it was one of the last high grossing R rated American comedies I hadn't seen), but it was certainly marketed to teens/20 somethings and I agree with your post.

I didn't think Josh Hartnett would be a bigger star. He's a solid B+. I think someone here described him as "The guy you'd get when you can't afford Matt Damon" or something like that.

Rape scene aside which I had a big problem with, it was also hard to feel sorry for a guy who was having too much meaningless sex in the first place.
This is a film I hate, the only other film I hate as much is the 2005 movie Crash.
