I think they could have easily done a segment tonight (setup the Sting feud as was rumoured to happen), but, with the state he's in right now, it was the right call to make to send him home, let him rest up and bring him back later to set it up. I'd also guess that due to what they said was a severe concussion that all the lights and things would have been terrible for him. Remember when Bret got the concussion that finally knocked him out of wrestling, he wasn't supposed to do anything for weeks, including television and reading. Sending Undertaker out there would have been some serious sensory overload for his severely concussed brain. You're right. I guess the selfish part of me wanted him to be able to come out and hear how much we all love the guy. But after seeing the Instagram of him getting on the bus, no way. It just would have been asking too much. I just hope there will be a forum soon where Taker can come out and say goodbye. Oh, and just to add in to tribute songs, here's mine for Taker:

It's kind of funny that over the course of this thread, you could see the Five Stages of Grief in action.

There couldn't have been a better follow up than that. Heyman just cemented his legend even more and puts him as easily one of the best stick men/managers in history. Brock looks absolutely brilliant now.
It was perfect, you didn't need anything more or less than that. Heyman you majestic and glorious thing you! And good luck to whoever gets demolished by Lesnar next....

I just finished watching the match, I'll admit I already know the result and I still had Tears in my eyes. I can imagine that match being a lot harder to watch knowing the result. Taker just get's torn apart and it wasn't pretty. Yeah it was a tough watch (I liked it though) just seeing Taker decimated the way he was and NOTHING he could do would phase Lesnar at all.

Well, here's a good question for you all: with The Streak gone, should this be it for Taker?
Personally, and I know I've said this, I really kind of need it to be the end. Anything more would now feel like Taker is just collecting a paycheck. I don't need or want another match. Go home to your family, Mark, and let us have our memories. They are worth far more than another match.

Even last year in the Punk match he was twice the man he was this year. He needs to hang it up.

Personally, yeah, Taker shouldn't have any more matches. Just give him a Hall of Fame entry next year (most likely the headliner) and call it a career.

I want one last match, co-headlining WM31. For the first time in his career that I can really think of, Taker will actually look like an underdog then. Throw 'em in the Ric Flair WM24 or HBK WM26 role and let him go out.

Regarding Taker's condition, Meltzer noted on the F4W podcast that after he was knocked loopy, Lesnar basically called the match because Taker was having trouble knowing where they were going next. He also didn't remember a lot of the match afterwards.
I would imagine we can at least partially blame that for it being a subpar Taker match.

To Lesnar's credit, he was able to keep the match going without doing any further harm to Taker. I know he's sore from seeing the Instagram video, but after being concussed early on, it could have gotten so much worse.

It feels silly to realize a goddamn wrestling storyline did this to me, but man, it totally did. "NO NO THIS CAN'T HAVE-- THIS IS THE WORST THING-- WHY COULDN'T IT AT LEAST HAVE BEEN-- LIFE SUCKS. WHY-- ...I'm kind of okay with this now."

I'm getting closer to "acceptance" I guess, but it still hurts. It's kinda sad (but maybe a little awesome in a way?) that I feel so much emotion over something WWE-related.
Le sigh. We love you, Taker.

Rewatching the match on the replay right now and honestly... The match still isn't exactly good, but between the concussion and once you know the story that was being told, it's really not as much of a trainwreck as it felt like. Not something I'd go out of my way to ever watch again unless I wanted to marathon the entirety of the streak's existence or something, but the main thing that drags it down more than anything is the shitty commentary.

What specifically concussed him? I wont be surprised if it was those powerbomb that Lesnar did when he was trap in Hell Gate.

I'm sure somebody's already said this but....Austin didnt give the rub to a younger guy in his career-ending match either. Austin interacted with lots of young guys after his retirement. He had lots of segments with Rene Dupree. The segment with Punk that had people hoping for an Austin/Punk match. Cena, Miz, and A-Ry have all shared a beer and/or taken a stunner from Austin at some point.

Taker was already sloppy and stumbling around looking like he didn't know where he was at even before that happened. That being said, the impact on the second one was pretty nasty and probably made it worse.
