He says that Venom is just a boring '90s villian, but Venom debuted in The Amazing Spider-Man #299, which came out in April 1988. He should do more research. I think you are nitpicking. Venom is still seen as a 90s character. Cause he really became important during that time period along with Cable, X-Force and all sharpy things. If you take out the emo Peter stuff, Spider-Man 3 is still better than Amazing Spider-Man 1 and 2. Cause even if you have a lesser Raimi, it's still Sam Raimi and he has his shit together. Compared to AS1 and 2 who feels like this has been done by commitee. With Amazing Spider-Man 2, NOTHING made sense. Harry Osborne in Spider-Man 3 at least has a whole arc. He's been developped for 3 movies. Compare him to Harry in AS2 where it seems like he's a pycho from the start and turn bad by the end of the movie. AS2 is a movie written by the TNA writting staff where there's no build and the payoffs leaves you numb. I see what you mean. Venom did become prominent in the 90s. As for ASM2, they tells us that Harry and Peter were childhood friends, but they never show it. In fact, ASM2 suffers from the same problem as Spider-Man 3: too many plotlines, not enough focus. They could have had Harry and Peter rekindle their friendship, while, at the same time, lead up to Harry becoming the Green Goblin, setting up ASM3.
