I just realized the Penguins now have the very first player and very last player drafted in the same draft year on their roster. Has this ever happened before? Also this does scream salary dump for the Penguins even if it's a good trade

A bit boring so far outside of that trade and a few somewhat unexpected draft picks.

But shit who else in sports history had a first and last pick of the same year in the same draft?

The Cap is going up to 70M this coming season. Actually, now that I look at it, this trade isn't actually that great for Pittsburgh business wise. Hornqvist and Spalling pretty much make the same as Neal. Also, they have 55M tied up in 14 players. Nashville may have gotten away with something here.

So with 3 picks left in the first round, NBCSN goes to... track and field.
Way to fail NBCSN.
f***, Isles got Ho-Sang.

Kings get Adrian Kempe. That leaves Lemeiux open to NJ. Don't fail me Lou.

Yeah I saw. I wanted Lemieux, but at least they drafted an offensive position and not a D-Man as I feared Lou would do.

The Islanders trading up for a highly skilled player who may have attitude problems. Something never changes. But honestly I would do the same thing. Problem is if your management and core is immature it turns into poison. If it's a Detroit or Boston maturity respected franchise then it could really work.

I think Ho-Sang's attitude problems are grossly overstated. Kid is confident and it comes off as a little arrogant, but I don't mind him thinking showing emotion is good.
I would've loved to have him in NJ.

I would've loved to have him in NJ. At least you know he's truthful right away. Lot of all stars played the pre draft politics right and later on turned into problematic coach killers despite having all the talent in the world.

Boring Draft so far.
No standouts- I mean, no Stamkos/MacKinnon types here.
Least interesting NHL Draft since 1996.

Draft day deals were boring as f***. Plus hey someone actually picked a defenseman first overall for once even though there's not a lot 18 year defensemen that are already 6'4 and 215lbs and can grow a big beard.

James Reimer wants out. I wonder where he will land. Winnipeg? Teams that need a starter or a 1A/1B tandem Calgary Vancouver Winnipeg Washington Ottawa Carolina (doubt Ward will be around after this season) Buffalo St. Louis (it's possible if Elliot and Allen don't pan out) Minnesota (Backstrom is declining, Harding has MS, Bryz looked to be done till a second chance resurgence in the playoffs, Kuemper won the starting job from Bryz in the playoffs and then lost it)

Tampa then traded him to Arizona for a sixth round pick and B.J. Crombeen.
