Jesus thats a lot to give up on a above average D-Man who becomes a UFA end of the season. Islanders thirst for Defenseman is real. Also my cousin went to school and was part of the same graduating class as Boychuck.

Longtime, longterm suffering Isles fan. I like the trades for one reason. We need guys that can actually play defense. We have defensemen, but they are just average forwards playing on a line with 2 people. Kinda does make it crowded in the back and with Lee, Strome, and Nelson finding a home with the big club, I'm wondering if Garth is about to do something bigger before the season starts. New ownership coming soon and it's not like they don't have cap space (as if that's ever an issue with this team ) Either way it's the most optimistic i've been going into a season in quite a number of years.

I really like these moves for the Isles. The D and the goalie position have been their downfall for years now. While Leddy isn't the best defesively, I think if you put him with a veteran like Boychuck who is a solid(not great mind you) 2-way defenseman, and that's a pretty good second D unit. Hell, you could even put him with Hamonic and have a super fast, physical pairing capable of joining a play and chipping in offensively. While I personally think Halak is overrated as a goalie, he's sure as hell better than Nabby was last season, so the Isles are looking good this year.

Also, sorry for the double-post, but I can't wait to se BRV or The Slickness's rage about this Boychuk trade. Johnny B was a silent, but cool and collected leader in the locker room. Not only that, but he led by example by sacrificing himself for the betterment of the team as a whole. That type of stuff goes a long way in NHL locker rooms(I know a little because that's how the Kings locker room is). Anyways, this article does a very good job of explaining how potentially damaging this Boychuk trade could be to the Bruins: www.csnne.com/boston-bruins/haggerty-boychuk-trade-makes-bruins-worse

I honest to God think the Isles might contend for a playoff spot this year. As a Flyers fan that scares me because we've done nothing all offseason and just lost Kimo to bloodclots of all things.

Bruins still have plenty of depth and good defensive prospects like Dougie Hamilton and Krug to takeover his minutes and leadership opportunities. Plus Boston Bruins is a straight up character franchise that values grit, work ethic, and character more then pure skill (LOL Seguin, Joe Thornton, etc). So I'm sure many of the prospects are character guys with leadership potential like Boychuck

*looks at the Oilers final pre season cuts*
Yup this team has officially entered the McDavid sweepstakes. Seriously f*** Dallas Eakins. f*** nepotism so Will Acton continues having a job. f*** Kevin Lowe because Kevin Lowe. f*** Katz the invisible reclusive owner who only cares about his arena. And f*** MacTavish for not firing Eakins

Looks like the Rangers opening day roster is set:
Forwards (16): Derick Brassard, Anthony Duclair, Jesper Fast, Tanner Glass, Carl Hagelin, Kevin Hayes, Chris Kreider, Ryan Malone, J.T. Miller, Dominic Moore, Chris Mueller, Rick Nash, Martin St. Louis, Lee Stempniak, Derek Stepan, Mats Zuccarello Defensemen (7): Dan Boyle, Dan Girardi, Matt Hunwick, Kevin Klein, Ryan McDonagh, John Moore, Marc Staal Goaltenders (2): Henrik Lundqvist, Cam Talbot
Can't wait to see how Duclair handles being in the show.

If he doesn't sign up by 7:00 PST, I'll just move the draft until Wednesday Night. I wouldn't be able to do it tomorrow night until super late for you Midwesterners and East Coasters.

My terrible, horrible, no-good, very bad fantasy hockey team:
(10-team league, three starting Cs, LWs, RWs, four starting D, two starting G)
C: Jonathan Toews, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Bryan Little, Kyle Turris, Travis Zajac, Carl Soderberg LW: Jeff Skinner, Loui Eriksson, Evander Kane, Nick Foligno, Tomas Tatar RW: Patrick Kane, Corey Perry, Bobby Ryan, Cam Atkinson D: Kris Letang, Drew Doughty, Brent Burns, Dougie Hamilton, Tyler Myers, Mark Streit G: Cory Schneider, Kari Lehtonen, Jake Allen
Yuck.

It's been hinted at for a while, but now it's official: Ryan McDonagh is the newest captain of the New York Rangers. Also, the Rangers will have 4 players serving as alternate captains: Dan Girardi, Martin St. Louis, Marc Staal, and Derek Stepan.

Actually, your team looks pretty decent. You're only really weak at LW and D a little. I can tell you right now, Drew Doughty won't necessarily bring you the points a la a Karlsson or Subban, but he's reliable. Also, Cory Schneider was pretty good last year, it's just that he never won because whenever he would start the team would refuse to score for him. Lehtonen is also really underrated as far a goalies go. He's really solid too.

The thing is if we do it Wednesday, the first 10 days of the season wouldn't count in the head to head format I have it set up as right now. I mean, I can set the draft even further back tomorrow at like 9 PST, but then East Coasters and Midwesterners would find that too late.

Which team/teams won't have a presence in the "AA" league that's left. Or will it be 2 NHL teams sharing an affiliate?

Yeah, Schneider's W-L percentage is deceptive because most of the games he played in the woeful Devils' offense only scored 2 or less goals, and a lot of the times got shut out. His GAA and SV% were really good. With Schneider as the definite starting goalie and without Marty hogging way more games than a backup should, I think he could be a contender for the Vezina this season. I just hope the team in front of him can score.
