I don't know Florida and Rags goalies are too good. I expect the Panthers to be a darkhorse playoff team.

Florida is always a damn wildcard. Excuses always been prospects needed more time, injuries, low budget team, and no good goaltending. And then it seems like they improve every offseason and history repeats itself always. If they make it'll probably be a 5th seeded 8th place spot. For the Rangers I haven't seen a Stanley cup finalist team get so gutted in the off season since the 05-06 Oilers.

The Central Hockey League is no more. Plans have been put in place for the league to merge with the ECHL, but the details are still early. If I find anything concrete, I'll post it. That is disconcerting to say the least. We need more small-leagues like the CHL in the States to expose more people who can't go to an NHL game on a regular basis to instill that love of the game. Hopefully they do merge with the ECHL. The executives of the two leagues met earlier in the week in St. Louis to iron out talks of an emergency merger. The CHL lost three teams this offseason (St. Charles, Denver, & Arizona) and would've tried to field a seven team league with six regional clubs and one from that hockey hellhole they call Brampton, Ontario. If they ditch Brampton, who failed miserably in supporting the OHL Battalion, they can survive as their own division in the ECHL since a division with Rapid City, Wichita, Quad Cities, Kansas City (Missouri), Tulsa, & Allen isn't too demanding on resources. And I'm thankful for that league as the Indy Fuel play their first game next month. But, the last few years have not been kind to AA hockey. As for NHL talks... I agree with SuperSweet Can't Get Enough of That Wonderful Duff that Carolina will suck this season. Whether they'll be a top contender for that #1 pick remains to be seen.

Selänne has said a bunch of stuff regarding Bruce Boudreau in his new book "Teemu". Amongst them "if there had been any other coach, I would still play." "It would have been wrong if we had won the Stanley Cup with a coach like that."
Selänne also mentions having offers from LA Kings and Winnipeg Jets for the 2013-2014 season, but decided to stay after he was promised around 15 minutes per game and power-play time.

In other news, AV announced that he'll named McDonagh captain of the Rangers after the preseason. Actually he said he'd named a captain but at this point it's obviously gonna be McDonagh.

Love the third sweater from the Penguins

Good news everyone! The FAN Pucksport league has been renewed! Make sure to check your e-mails as the invites have been sent. The draft is prospectively scheduled for October 6th (a Monday Night) at 7:30 PST. However, I can make it sooner and at a time that works for everybody.

Tkachev's entry level contract with Oilers ruled ineligible by NHL
Vladimir Tkachev's entry level contract signed with the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday has been ruled ineligible by the National Hockey League. According to NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly, Tkachev wasn't qualified to sign a contract as he is still eligible for June's NHL Entry Draft. Players who go undrafted are eligible to sign only if they played a full year in North America. While waiting for his transfer, Tkachev played two games with Omsk of the Kontinental Hockey League and spent the remainder of the season with the Moncton Wildcats of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Tkachev will go back into the draft after this season. The 18-year-old appeared in three preseason games with the Oilers, posting three assists and a plus three rating. The native of Omsk, Russia also played in the 2013 Subway Super Series for Team Russia, marking the second straight year he has represented Russia in the Super Series. Tkachev appeared in six games tallying four points (2G, 2A), a plus one rating and two penalty minutes.
This is f***ing Bullshit. The NHL should of informed the Oilers or Tkachev that he shouldn't bother going to training camp because it's not like he could of actually made it to the main roster if he played great. That 5'9 145lb must be devastated that he won't be getting that entry level contract this summer that he worked really hard to get and has to wait till draft next year.

This Anthony Duclair kid the Rangers have seems to have some potential. He might be the one replacing Stepan while he's out with the broken leg.

Don't think he'll be getting much ice time in the last 2 games either.

The Senators have named Erik Karlsson their team captain. They also signed Bobby Ryan to a 7 year extension.

I don't really think of him as a leader, but he may be one of those silent leaders. Still, it seems a little odd...to me at least. Also, LOL at that contract extension. They're really going to regret signing that once Bobby starts demanding for a trade if the Sens are awful again come this trade deadline. Also, I'll put thus in large letters, so that everybody can see: People that were in fantasy hockey last year, make sure to check your e-mails for the invitation. If you want to play again, please do so. If not, let me know so that I can ask other people to take your place.

The thing about Bobby Ryan keeps getting 30G every season I wouldn't say its a bad overpayment

I know it doesn't count, but the Devils beat the Islanders in a shootout yesterday. Baby steps.
