Thank you Edmonton, for playing just well enough to beat my Avs and screw up their already slim chances for the playoffs. That explains why I saw a group of like 20 people in Colorado jerseys hanging around downtown edmonton this afternoon. But seriously they nearly blew a 3-0 lead edmonton. And Craig MacTavish is this confident with this defense core next season?

Every time they start to roll it just dies when one of those injured guys comes back. And they lost MacKinnion for the year too.

Rangers win 5-1. And with the Bruins losing in OT, the Rangers become the 1st team to clinch a playoff spot this season.

Fans in Buffalo are fully embracing the tank, going so far as to cheer whenever Arizona scored a goal on the Sabres.
Naturally, the Sabres players didn't take too kindly to this.

So 4 teams can punch their ticket today
Montreal Canadiens If they defeat the Panthers in any fashion OR if the Rangers defeat the Bruins in any fashion OR if they get one point against the Panthers AND the Bruins defeat the Rangers in a shootout.
Anaheim Ducks If they defeat the Islanders in any fashion OR if they lose to the Islanders in overtime or a shootout.
Tampa Bay Lightning If they defeat the Red Wings in any fashion OR if they get one point against the Red Wings AND the Rangers defeat the Bruins in any fashion OR if the Rangers defeat the Bruins in regulation.
Nashville Predators If they defeat the Capitals in any fashion.

Dallas no. 4-0 loss to the Oilers geeze. Almost every season the Oilers do the tanking wrong. They tank early, then finish the season well. Often they win the final game and if they didn't they would of gotten the #1 draft pick. 2007 won the last game finishing bottom 6th instead of bottom 5th where the bottom 5th place Blackhawks draft #1 Patrick Kane. Or last season when they won the last game finishing bottom third instead of bottom second and Florida wins to draft Ekblad. To be fair I'm convinced 2007 draft was rigged for the Blackhawks and last season was Ryan Smyth's final game and I think the Oilers still would of drafted Leon Draisaitl due to weak center depth and barely ever drafting defensemen as their first pick. Plus MacTavish still thinks Jultz is a Norris caliber defensemen and Ekblad is having a great season being mentored by Willie Mitchell and Brian Campbell and having Luongo as your goalie to bailout your mistakes where in Edmonton he would be ruined. But dammit I'm still cautiously optimstic on the Todd Nelson's Oiler's. With the same roster no way in hell they make it to the playoffs but I can actually see progress like finishing above the bottom five. It'll be a victory if they finish above the bottom ten. f*** this team sucks.

Knowing our luck, Toronto's gonna get it. And tonight, the Fuel play against South Carolina... who have won 23 games straight. They right now... scare the daylights out of me.

Yeah I'm convinced the McDavid draft is going to be rigged. No way in hell a generational player that is one of the elite few players that actually can draw new viewers into hockey and make the league money is going to be playing in a Sunbelt team or a small market team that Bettman doesn't like or the Oilers where they somehow ruin him. I have a feeling Toronto is so getting him being the biggest market and all and how they are getting a winter classic during their 100th season and Bettman being close with Shanahan. I could see Columbus, NJ, Buffalom and of course Philly getting him. I give Arizona a lot of credit tanking to force their way into getting Eichel and I don't blame them. Like really if they are really generational players then this is their last chance of saving the franchise. But oh God I would consider quitting watching or following hockey if McDavid gets drafted by Toronto. I don't hate Toronto but NHL in Canada will become The Toronto Maple Leafs starring Connor McDavid show. Like the horror....

Lundqvist gets the start for the Rangers in Boston
And Immediately gets burned by a HIGHLY questionable call from Toronto. That looked like a kick to me.

And we can now add the Habs to the list. 4 down, 12 to go.

Why would the team that gets McDavid trade the cost certainty those years of his early prime for an aging Crosby?

Why would the team that gets McDavid trade the cost certainty those years of his early prime for an aging Crosby? Crosby is only 27 that really isn't aging. 32 and over is when slumps begin. But for the Penguins side of thing why would the Penguins trade the best player in hockey right now who is also one of the best if not best captain in the league who is also a great character of the ice on a unproven draft pick that could possibly bust or not live up to the hype. I love the fact Crosby isn't even the highest paid player on his own team and accepted the same deal he had when he was a RFA so the team wouldn't have major cap problems and so they have a chance of winning. But shit if Edmonton won the lottery for McDavid I would trade for Crosby in a heartbeat. The team needs proven winning veteran leadership to win games and mentor the players then another unguided 18 year old kid to figure out things for himself.

I'm just saying that most teams that would win the lottery are a few years off from competing and by that time I'd rather have McDavid coming into his prime by then rather then a 30 year old great player at a bigger cap hit

When I last spoke, I mentioned the Indy/South Carolina game where Indy was facing off against a team that hasn't lost in 2 months. We won.
