Erron Black is my main, so I can give you a good idea of where to start. Erron Black is one of the few characters that I've found in which best main specials and pressure-based combos are pretty much left intact across all of his variations. His variations only enhance different portions of his fighting style rather than enhance some at the expense of others. I'll start off with his universal specials. Sand Slide is a quick low special, similar to Sub-Zero's slide which can be enhanced for more damage. Sand Grenade is a slow low projectile which reaches fullscreen, which when enhanced loses range but also launches on hit. Sand Tackle is a special that is a high-damage command grab special which is a great juggle combo ender and helps to carry your opponent into the corner. Lastly, Erron has caltrops, which serve as a dual purpose. This move deals damage over time when your opponent is standing on them and also is used to give you some breathing room since they stop your opponent from running over them. They're also very effective in the corner since you can pressure your opp[onent with blockstrings while they simultaneously take unblockable damage from the caltrops. I personally use his Outlaw variation. In this one, it gives his Sand Gust special an upgrade and gives it more range, and he gains a Tarkatan Blade which gives him access to his best Neutral Jump Punch and his best poke combo in F2, 2, 2. This variation is best for pressure and midscreen combos, as well as for those who like moves that do damage over time (his Tarkatan Stab special). He's also pretty nasty in the corner. This variation suffers when it comes to zoning, though. Next is Marksman. In this one, he gets a Long Rifle and gains zoning tools with Unload and Low Shot. He also gets a launcher move. I've found that he gets the highest damage out of this variation. Players have also been experimenting quite a bit as of late with cancelling his Low Shot in order to extend combos, so this is the variation which I believe has the most potential for growth. Last is Gunslinger. In this one, he gains Standoff Stance, which allows for mixup options, a zoning tool, and a decent antiair, and Money Shot, which allows you to zone your opponent from various ranges, although its probably his worst special. So basically, it comes down to what your playstyle is. Well I'm not really a zoning guy, I mainly prefer a rushdown game, so it seems like Outlaw is my best bet. Thanks for the tips.

Rushdown and in-your-face pressure is my style as well and I love playing Outlaw.

I have a small question about Brutalities, for which we'll use Shinnok as an example.
So, his Amulet Blast serves as a special move and also a Brutality for both his Imposter and Necromancer variations. But in Bone Shaper, it is changed. Is the replacement move still a Brutality in this variation?

Is the replacement move still a Brutality in this variation? I can't tell you in that specific case, but, generally, Brutalities are variation specific (if you can see the input for it on the pause screen, I believe it will say what variation/condition is required to pull it off).

Played as Jason earlier on in his tower. I'm not too impressed with him as a character.

I like Jason in general, but the things I don't like about him (weak fatalities that are mostly brute strength based, lack of intros due to not being able to talk) are probably things that Netherrealm couldn't do much with. I feel like it would've been better if Jason were in MK9 with the one static intro and Freddy were in MKX because they could've had some clever dialogue exchanges with him.

That looks better than the Sub-Zero one.

So, do I really have to be on PlayStation Plus just to play online? It wouldn't matter to me if didn't have to require a monthly payment. Street Fighter doesn't require it, why should MK?

Just uninstalled MKX from my machine. Somehow in the space between the 12th and two days ago, the game has gotten into a state where I can only load to the initial menu and then no further because input isn't being read. I'm fed up with the incredibly shoddy port that PC people have received. I'll come back to it in like six months or so once most of the DLC is out and when hopefully patches have stopped. I'm severely hoping High Voltage Software never touch another game in their life, how they got the contract for this after the MK9 and Injustice port problems I'll never know.

Don't play any of these games anymore, but would anyone else find John Wick to be a natural bonus character for this franchise?

I think there's a general understanding that people have to have heard of the characters included as bonuses, otherwise they won't be that enthused about paying money for them.

Quite fond of the skins. Really suits Kano, and it's nice for Sonya to get something with a little more visual flair before her MK1 outfit comes out. Kind of befuddled that the Scorpion Kold War skin isn't included though.
EDIT: Also, now finished all the arcade ladders. There's some interesting setup for the next game, but I was really hoping Erron Black's would flesh him out a little, because as it stands his character is "His past is mysterious and he REALLY likes guns". Even the flattest characters in MK history have more going for them than that.
