As much as I enjoy Punk professionally, as a person, nope, because he seems like a complete and utter tool to most fans.
Now I do get that he is probably sick of people coming up to him at inappropriate times but in this case it's not like the guy interrupted his wedding to ask for an autograph.
Having said that, if I had seen him, I probably would have just not said anything myself

Punk seems to have chosen the wrong profession if he didn't want to deal with fans saying hello on the street, it took more effort for him to be rude than it would have for him to have nodded and and gone on about his business.
I get the feeling that eventually he's going to snap and just vanish from the public eye altogether, not even appearing when the WWE try to throw big heaps of cash his way as he doesn't need the money. He'll end up as wrestling's version of Steve Ditko or Bigfoot, someone who people claim to have seen in Chicago, or in areas his few known friends are working but the pictures are always blurry or of some skinny homeless guy.

I would have been like "Hey Domino, Huge fan. Why are you hanging out with a homeless guy?" then just walked away.

I dunno if it was because it was at an autograph signing but he was cool to me when I met him a few years ago he even cracked a joke. I was totally expecting to get the asshole punk that I had read about time and time again.

On his own time, he wants nothing to do with anybody. Honestly, I don't understand the hate for him being that way.

Meh, I don't think Punk, or any celebrity for that matter, owe the fans anything when they're off-duty, so to speak.

Punks a hero to a lot of people and finding out your hero is a douchbag tends to hit people hard so they turn to hating him.

If you saw some dude on the street you didn't know personally but somehow knew of him or had heard of him, you say hey man aren't you Bob from shop class? And he returns by saying "what do you want?" All douchey and mean like. What would you say your opinion of him would be? So him being a celebrity and getting forgiveness for acting like a dick? Not from me. He or any of them get no forgiveness for being a dick. You don't want to do the autograph or the perfunctory nice guy face, than just ask politely to please excuse you, you are in a hurry or are just trying to blend but thank you for being a fan etc.

It's one of those things where you didn't do anything wrong, but that response should be expected from him. He's well established as being that way. It was a bit of an awkward thing to say I suppose; if I saw him I'd probably say nothing or just give him a smile and a nod. I'd love a picture with him but I can predict the response a request would get. The whole "oh he shouldn't have been a wrestler if he didn't want fans coming up to him" is bullshit though. I hate when people say stuff like that. Like, "oh she shouldn't have been an actress if she didn't want paparazzi following her". Guys like Punk, or Brock...if they don't wanna interact, they don't wanna interact. It'd be nice if they did (and I've heard stories of both doing so for polite fans, or on a good day!) but they don't really owe us anything, as much as some claim. I've always said I'm a fan of his, but I don't think I'd get along with the guy. I don't think he's a fully fledged dick, maybe just part dick. I know he's had a tough road, he's great to his friends and he's generous. He has his positives and his negatives. So, he's just like everyone else basically. You'd think I would have seen wresters around town while WWE was using OVW in Louisville as their development territory. But nope, just Victoria over and over. =P That doesn't sound too bad! One of the few wrestlers I'd love to meet, not only because I liked her, but because she's notoriously a great person to meet.

Did you help out with ____?" and I tend to give people a shrug and a "not now, this is my private time, sorry," so I think Punk's not too bad in this situation. I swear we all must have those moments. When you're busy or you're doing your own thing to be bothered by people you don't know personally is often annoying, even if the person asking is not being a jerk (opening poster seemed fine) you still have the right to your own time. Sometimes being stopped or spoken to can be extra annoying especially if you don't have the longest fuse along with the reputation of not liking speaking to fans/colleagues/people you don't know when not in work mode.

He probably won't let the minister get close enough to marry him and AJ. "Do you, Phillip Brooks, take thee..." "OH JEEZ MY REAL NAME. WOW YOU'RE SUCH A COOL SMARK. f*** OFF BACK TO THE DIRTSHEETS, ASSHOLE. BUNCH OF INTERNET NERDS. I'M OUTTA HERE." This whole rant in the style/voice of Doug from The State. "I'm Punk, and I'm out of he he he heeeeeerrrrre"

IF you don't want to sign autographs, then that's fine. But to act like a dick to someone who recognized you and wasn't rude is inexcusible. It's not like the OP acted like some neckbeard 'fanboy' whose sole purpose is to hound celebrities for autographs to sell on eBay. It's hard for me to feel sympathetic toward tools like Punk. He shouldn't have become a 'celebrity' if he didn't want to be bothered.

Sorry man, it's pretty well established that Punk is usually a jerk to people who approach him when he's off. I'm sure you didn't do anything wrong, but this isn't anything surprising from him.

You don't like being pestered with work-related things on your days off, I'm sure, now ramp that up about a thousand times and see how long you go before you become a pissed-off jerk about it. The thing so many people forget it celebrities don't belong to them, nor do they owe them one single thing. Being famous doesn't entitle you nor I to hassle someone on their own time.

Indeed it will get to the point where, one day, some will be defending Punk over physically attacking a fan for smiling at him. I get that it's his right to be a dick but it's a bit disheartening to see a bunch of posts defending it and framing it sympathetically. The man himself would probably readily admit he's uncomfortable to unpleasant around fans. It really can be that simple. Hell, he made a former friend cry at SummerSlam Access a few years ago. Of course this was during his Straight Edge Savior bit. Probably just being a good heel.

I met Punk three times and he was always cool to me. Keep in mind, he wasn't supposed to be in character or anything as I met him at the local hotel they were staying at. He was happy to pose for a photo with me on all occasions. It sucks you had that experience with him. If it makes you feel any better, the first time I met him he told me to speak up higher when I'm talking to him. (I was 14 at the time so I was a little nervous given all the stories I heard about him being a dick.) I didn't hold it against him though. When I met him again at 17 and 18, he was cool as hell and made me a fan for life. He even thanked me for thanking him which I thought was amusing. Chance are, he just didn't want to be bothered. I don't think you were in the wrong per say, I just think you were unlucky. Perhaps if you meet him again, say hello and politely ask for a quick photo. Being overly polite goes a long way with Punk. You don't have to kiss his ass but saying thank you and please helps. They say Batista is the biggest dick going but I had a good experience meeting him in person. I never meet any wrestlers at signings as I feel they're poorly organised and forced to play their character for the cameras. I'd much rather someone was a Dick to me for real than be falsely nice to me. But that's just my own personal preference

Yeah, from everything I've heard about him, Punk is a complete jerk to his fans. Sorry you found that out personally, OP. It's the reason I've never had any real urge to meet the guy.

Celebrities don't owe anyone anything - but at the end of the day they are where they are because of the fans - doesn't hurt to show a little decency of a "Hey dude, have a good one." It brushes the person off immediately but is good willed.
Roman Reigns is ruined for me, I saw a story here that someone walked up to them in the gym just to say hi and he all but pissed in their face, he'd probably been a big name for like 4 months at this point.
Like I can understand guys like Batista wanting to tell someone to **** off for rudely asking for an autograph during a meal, after putting up with it for 5 years, but 4 months dude? Really?

Meh, I don't think Punk, or any celebrity for that matter, owe the fans anything when they're off-duty, so to speak. You always owe people common courtesy. If you're busy you can say so, there's nothing wrong with that. Here's an example. "Hey, yeah it's us. Sorry I'm super busy my wedding is today." You can be polite and not take any more time doing so than it takes to spit out venom at a stranger.
