From the flow to the beats, it's great. I was really vibing on She Will Be Mine, my favorite, but it's solid throughout. It's awesome.

Sounds nice, you've got a really good flow. BTW, is the cover inspired by this?

Wow. I've been looking for the right words for a few days, but I'm genuinely humbled and very grateful for the response to the EP in this thread. Putting out music is hard, and I'm thrilled not only that you all gave me a chance and listened, but that you actually liked it too. Sincerely, thank you so much. I must ask, what exactly are Sea Leaves? You're the first person to ask, and I'm glad you asked. True story, the week before Good Goose and I recorded the first draft of the album, I had a vivid dream that I was at a picnic where a radio station was playing a "Biggest Hits of 2007" countdown. I didn't recognize one of the songs, which had the hook "I making sea leaves / I ain't talking Seagram's Gin," but it stuck out to me. I woke up and racked my brain to try to remember what song that was. I asked my then-girlfriend and she looked at me sideways and said "That's not a song. There's no way that's a song." I was certain that it was a song, as my dream insisted it was one of the biggest hits of 2007, but google turned up absolutely zero results. Fast forward a week later. Goose made the beat, I recorded the two verses, but we didn't have a hook. While doing a take of recording a place holder while Goose mixed the verses, I just said the apparently non-existent hook from my dream. Goose found it really catchy, so it stayed. But yeah, "Sea Leaves" are pretty much anything that isn't Seagram's Gin. I tried to make sense of it to myself as when you can go on sea leave and just take some time to do exactly what you want to do by leaving to the sea where there are no laws, but really it's just fun gibberish from the furthest reaches of my mind. BTW, is the cover inspired by this? Oh, I wish I was that clever. The very talented Caroline Sinders and I had a photoshoot on a rooftop that was right by a White Castle. She hadn't had White Castle in years, so I treated her to some sliders. While there, she wanted to take a picture of me as my last album A Personal Reference, had a cover with me sitting at an Arby's. I struck a pose, she snapped it and then said "That's the one."

Chaz, my computer runs super slow so I mostly have to download your shit at work and stick it on a memory stick for myself (no, really), but do you have a lot of free shit or just this EP and album? Because I kinda want everything you've ever done but I'm broke until the end of the month.

Awesome! Probably only the second review in my entire life where I've been accurately quoted. I also love the part where it's insinuated that I'm good looking. Thanks! Fantastic! Really glad you took the time track-by-track with this. I stand by the talents of everyone on the album. Maria Isa actually just dropped a new video: (language warning)

This is by far the best production you have had. I would love it if you hit the back catalog and tried to get it up to this standard. You have some great older stuff that is let down by the lack of "umph" at times. That said, you never need to get any more clean that this. You have a great balance for the sounds on this.

Because I kinda want everything you've ever done but I'm broke until the end of the month. I believe that's all the free stuff that's currently available. There was also the free Year Long Spring Break mixtape I did back in 2008 that I put up for a limited time about a year ago, which I'll repost soon at some point. Otherwise there's my 2008 album Knee Jerk Reaction (available at CDBaby www.cdbaby.com/cd/chazkangas ) and then other CD-R albums I put out on tour in 2006 (Lapland) 2005 (notes from the underground w/ kid icarus) 2004 (the brown bunny) and then three releases with my punk band Electric Speckled Love Machine in 2002. I also put out free mini-EPs every Christmas called "Songs With Rapping" and then last year just the 'Hooray for Santa' single. Those are also on the righthand side of chazkangas.bandcamp.comThere also used to be free months New York underground compilations from Kamikaze Picnic. If you can still find any of them anywhere online, I have at least a track on each one.

If you go further back a full on rerecording versus a remaster job would be needed, and probably welcomed too. I love rough cuts in punk and indie, but I like hi-hop/Rap to be a little cleaner, but not as clean as the mainstream stuff.

Not to toot my own horn but I've been reviewing for nearly a decade now and hip hop is am passion of mine and I listened back to it to make sure I got it right. S'kinda my job! And you are good looking marketable face, bro I believe that's all the free stuff that's currently available.
