Having finally said goodbye to Matt Smith in last year's Christmas special we now say hello to the Twelfth Doctor, Peter Capaldi!
Episode 1: Deep Breath will air on the 23rd August on both BBC One in the UK and BBC America in the US.
Are you excited to see Capaldi's version of the Doctor?

Ready and psyched. I didn't care for the 2nd half of the 7th season. Most of the episodes felt like throw aways. And I hope the new season/new Doctor can gives Clara some new life, she shouldn't be blamed for the mess the 7th season was. And yeah I' m interested to see what new stuff Capaldi brings to the role.

Apprehensive but excited, like I always am with a new Doctor. Every time, I think the new Doctor won't be able to live up to the last, and nearly every time I've been proven wrong. Hope that trend continues here.

Awesome One of my favorite things about the Doctor is that he's not necessarily good. He's a hero to humans sure, but is like the incarnation of the devil to the rest of the universe so that teaser line of the Doctor doubting whether he is good or not gets me excited

I'm just curious about how that amnesia thing they hinted at during the Christmas special is going to turn out.

Did it ever amnesia before, though? I was under the impression it just weakened him and maybe he would need to spend time in the Zero room. Or eat fish fingers with custard. Of course if you're River Song apparently "regeneration trauma" means you've entered super-God mode where you are not only shielded from bullets but can cause shockwaves that knock people out and MY GOD IS THERE ANYTHING ABOUT THAT CHARACTER THAT ISN'T BULLSHIT?!!

In fact, I should definitely have remembered it happening to Eight because when I started reading the book "The Eight Doctors" and the events of it were kicked off with Eight losing his memories, I immediately thought "Again? Jeesh, how many times can that happen to the same guy?".

He also got amnesia when he became 5, calling companions the wrong names and not knowing much of what was going on until he got to the Zero Room. Eight has the amnesia high score, though. Stories where he gets amnesia include: - The TV Movie - The Eight Doctors - The Ancestor Cell (and onwards) - Halflife - Minuet In Hell - Zagreus - Terror Firma - Something Inside - Orbis (Oh, and there was a non-Who erotic novel by Portia De Costa in which the main character Claudia becomes involved with an amnesiac male who looks like Paul McGann. Why this is relevant is that Lance Parkin has Eight mention in two of the novels that he had a companion called Claudia. )

One day to go until Peter Capaldi's debut episode as the Doctor, and I guess we may as well bump this thread up now since there's no more need for the Series 7/50th Anniversary Specials/Series 8 Hype thread anymore.
Deep Breath on BBC One and BBC America tomorrow, DIS GON B GUD.

"Where have I seen you before? Pompeii? In London during that whole kerfuffle with the children being abducted by aliens?"
Doctor: "Shut up! Shut up!"
I can't wait to watch this when it starts streaming on Netflix in 2023.

My friend is a massive doctor who fan. He says he doesn't like the new doctor. He's basing this solely on the adverts. He's not my friend any more.

My friend is a massive doctor who fan. He says he doesn't like the new doctor. He's basing this solely on the adverts. He's not my friend any more. This reminds me of something: a couple of years back, I hadn't seen Doctor Who, but a large number of my friends were raving about it. So, eventually, I cave in and watch some episodes of the show, and I enjoy it. Then my one friend insists up and down that I start from season 1 (of the New show) and watch them all in order. So I do. But see, now I'm here, having watched the entire new series, and all of my friends who raved about the show have either moved out of town, or don't like the direction the show's taken since Moffat took over. So...thanks a lot, jerks, for making me get into a show, and then yourselves getting out of that show!
