Movie script perfect. I tuned in right when the Yanks closer blew the save and the announcer said "The one silver lining is that now Derek Jeter will get one more at bat." I knew it was coming, and so glad I saw it! RE2PECT

So this is your 2014 playoff picture (Unless Oakland somehow screws themselves out of a wild card spot in favor of Seattle). Gonna be pulling for my Los Angeles California Anaheim Los Angeles Angeles of Anaheim in this one
American League
Wild Card: Kansas City Royals (87-72) v Oakland Athletics (86-73)
Baltimore Orioles (95-64) v. Detroit Tigers (89-70) Los Angeles Angels (98-61) v. Royals/Athletics
National League
Wild Card: San Francisco Giants (86-73) vs. Pittsburgh Pirates (87-72)
Los Angeles Dodgers (91-68) v. St Louis Cardinals (88-71) Washington Nationals (94-65) v. Giants/Pirates
Also notable is that this is the first Division Series not to have the Yankees or Red Sox. I really hope that doesn't kill this thread for the next month

Really pulling for my Dodgers, but man the Cardinals are never fun to play.

Really pulling for my Dodgers, but man the Cardinals are never fun to play. Considering our one game lead in the division, your date may be with the Pirates if we dick around against the DBacks.

Still a long shot, but hoping the Pirates can pull it the division over the Cardinals, or at least force a tiebreaker. Cardinals have a much easier opponent, though.

The Pirates and Royals in the playoffs in the same year. Good for those two franchises. The Pirates fans were incredible last season during the playoffs, and I'm sure after 30 years without a playoff appearance, the Royals fans will be the same.
Now Toronto has the longest playoff drought in baseball at 21 years. That's a long playoff drought, especially with one WC for so long and now a 2nd one added.

The play in game does not feel like the playoffs to me. I am really glad that the Royals have gotten this far but I really want to see the Royals win a playoff game. Once they do that and are in an actually playoff series then there will be reason to celebrate.

Being that you have a Boston Strong avatar, I'll ask this here: Can you, or anyone else, explain to me all the "outrage" over the Sox' ceremony for Mo last season? It seemed like he and everyone else there got the joke, so what's the big deal? Or is it a typical homer overreaction?

I HOPE the Pirates and Royals make it to the World Series. That would be my dream series out of all of this year's teams, and I don't know who I'd root for.

I kinda want to see Dodgers vs. Orioles because I want to see either Don Mattingly or Buck Showalter get a well-deserved ring.

I'm rooting for Pirates vs. Royals too. I'm a Pirates fan anyway, but two teams with such long playoff droughts meeting in the World Series would be nice.

So the Nats can secure home field with 1 win today. They have a doubleheader against the Marlins. I still wouldn't rule out the AL and NL Central yet.

What we'll get: Tigers/Cardinals. Again.

Fister pitches a complete game shutout, Nats have home field advantage through the NLCS should they make it that far.

My Tribe didn't make the playoffs, but a solid/decent year nonetheless so I'm happy. Far as rooting interest it's tough. The Royals haven't been there in so long (I was 8 when they won it all), so that's a sentimental pick, but damn it'd be cool to see Kershaw, this generation's Koufax thus far, get himself a ring.

Maybe some people didn't like the fact that they brought up one of the very few times he failed but as you said he didn't mind.
