I was in Chicago a few days ago, for the first time ( I drove around hoping to see that Phil Brooks fella, so I could heckle him a bit ). Great city , Had a complete different vibe from every other major US city Ive been to. Now about the pizza - First off let me say I am from Queens ,ny Ive had pizza all over Queens, Manhattan & Long Island - some parts of Brooklyn , I can honestly say we have some great pizza. We New Yorkers are a proud people , so it really pains me to say , I had the best damn pizza of my entire life in Chicago , hell it may have been the best damn meal I have had period. you win this one Chi-town Where at?

]Dominos' pan pizza is not bad. I am a proud Italian-American and always go for the "real" experience when I can, but I don't pretend that something made of dough, crust, sauce and cheese and baked in an oven isn't pizza just because a chain made it and the quality isn't as good as a restaurant that charges triple for the same basic product.

Chicago style pizza is great, but it can get expensive. Dominos is my routine pizza. Domino's is not pizza. Domino's is a generic knockoff that is a disgrace to the name of pizza. If you prefer Domino's, you have not had real pizza and have lived a very sheltered, deprived life and for this you have my sympathy. And to the OP-NY shall forgive your transgression this time. If you do it again, NY shall break your kneecaps. oh yeah , you cant scare me - I'll go ahead and say it , their hot dogs are better, their subways are cleaner downtown is much nicer , & most of all their sports teams are better , in other words - mets suck, yankees suck, jets suck, nets suck, knicks suck, rangers suck, giants suck. Hell I might pack my stuff and move to Chicago ! ( Im of course kidding about all the Above , I am ashamed of myself & probably deserve the beating )

For that, I shall settle for the traditional FAN punishment (kick in the groin).

I haven't had the opportunity to go to Chicago for pizza. As a Long Islander now living in Manhattan (previously Queens) the better pizza is on Long Island.

I can understand people liking Chicago-style pizza more than NY. Really, I can. But California-style? That's an abomination. Though California has amazing Mexican and East Asian (take your pick: Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Korean, etc.) food.
As far as the big chains go, Dominoes serves its purpose in being cheap and not completely terrible. I'll easily take them over Pizza Hut and Papa Johns.

I use to be pro Chicago style pizza until my cousin told me she wasn't impressed by it. I don't really mess with national chains anymore because I think take and bake tastes better. There's also a nice and cheap local option when I want pizza that I don't have to cook.

I'm hardcore, I'll take both!
I'm also fat with arteries that look like cheese-sticks, so...yeah.
I can honestly say I've never had a bad "style" of pizza. Deep Dish Chicago, the thin, wide NY style, they're both great. Sicilian (square shape, thicker crust, liberal use of olive oil and garlic) is also wonderful.
I had one in this little gazebo looking place on the Med a lot of years ago that was, to this day, best pizza I've ever tasted. It was a Margarita pizza (fresh tomato, basil, garlic and olive oil instead of tomato sauce, cheese blend) with what I swear was pie crust. It was amazing.

I lived in California for 21 years. I LITERALLY moved back to Chicago for the pizza. From Giordano's "stuffed" pizza to the excellent thin crust Chicago-style, it's all excellent. The best part is, there's like fifteen pizza places in delivery distance from you no matter where you live and they're ALL great pizza.

lou malnati's in lincolnwood I live less than a 5 minute drive from there and go there all the time. I hope you got a desert cookie pizza. They are the bomb. Another great place less than 15 minutes from there is Pequods, if you ever find yourself in the area again. www.yelp.com/biz/pequods-pizzeria-morton-groveI've yet to go to Burt's Place. The owner makes all the pizza himself, you have to make reservations in advance and its cash only. The guy who started Pequods sold it then started Burt's Place. www.yelp.com/biz/burts-place-morton-grove
