Keller asks about TNAs payouts and Taz rolls out with a quickness. Tremendous.

To be fair, Taz has a right to be offended. Most people don't like being asked what they make for a living, etc. That isn't really any of his business on a personal level.

LMAO.
"Nah bro, TNA has been doing great these past few years!" "Are you making more money now?" "...THIS INTERVIEW IS OVER!"

Yeah, Keller should have likely kept that to a DM, but it's still a legitimate question I think. If TNA was doing good business, I doubt Taz would have been quite as offended and quick to avoid the question.

Taz could've kept all of this to a DM but he popped off public shots, he can't be upset that he got his casket blown up when he basically opened the door for it.

Wade has the bigger overall point. In 2014, TNA has to resort to more ECW nostalgia to help sell fans to come to their big New York debut. After 12 years, TNA has not established its own identity to attract fans. They should be focused on creating matches fans want to see and establishing stars fans want to follow. Instead, they are selling fans by offering to let them relive something from the 1990s once again.
Taz's point was...'Well. The fans enjoyed it.'
Wade's counterpoint: Yeah, but by serving these fans instead of building your product, you're hurting your business. Then Wade alludes to the salary cuts over the past two years.
I'd say Wade won.

I also don't get why TNA want to pander to people who loved ECW back in the day. Do they know who owns the ECW library? they are just sending those people to buy the WWE network and watch ECW on there. It makes zero sense to me.

If there's one place rasslers (and those who write about em as well, to be fair) come off bad often, it's Twitter.

Wade did have some valid points, the whole show reeked of ECW rehashed, if your main angle isn't your champion but rather an Ex ECW squad versus a stable with another EX ECW guy something is wrong. The focus of any company should be the champion, Lashley vs Hardy should have been the main event not a lead to a promo/brawl and if TNA was doing so good lately why those pay cuts and releases. Some of their new "talent" is a loan like Sanada and most the stars are pay per appearance so they only get paid for certain dates.

Thing is, it's not like this ECW nostalgia deal is even a direction. Not really. Truth be told this entire NYC set of tapings was the payoff to the whole Bully/Dixie angle. I want to see what TNA does in the August tapings. If they put on a bunch of ECW nostalgia there as well, then I really have to wonder what they are thinking. Right now I have no idea what their long term direction is for BFG. Who will face Lashley? Are they even doing a BFG Series? If you really look at it there's nothing really happening in TNA right now. The show the other night was a good show overall, but I don't know what it really meant.

I see Taz's point to be honest. Asking someone if they got a raise or what their pay is will not sit well with most people. If Keller kept the conversation about how business was going and overall direction, then fine, but I think most people would have reacted like Taz did the moment salary came up, IMO, especially in a public forum like Twitter. Of course, having the conversation on Twitter to begin with was a stupid idea, but that's a whole different story.

Keller won
Taz and TNA lose simply by having ECW nostalgia included as part of their product in any way shape or form, considering 1- they have never successfully built their own identity, 2- all of their younger fanbase wouldn't know what ECW even was, 3- "ECW" belongs to WWE thus TNA benefits in no way from indulging nostalgia for it, and 4- it's 2014 for goodness sake.

He basically both won, in a fashion, and lost in that he looks like a douchebag for it. If that's how he'd like to come out on top in debates, great, but "So, what'cha pulling down?" is almost universally a personal question. I doubt he'd have been pleased to produce an answer if he was asked the exact same question, regardless of the relevance to the argument.

He wasn't asking Taz what he was making as much as he was making a point that business is in the toilet to support his argument about ECW nostalgia and the merits of it's use. Taz getting offended more or less answered the question, all he had to do was say something like "I'm being compensated nicely for my services" and if Keller pressed further then he looks like a douche.

Taz also popped off on Lance Storm unprompted recently when Lance took a small swipe at TNA (and Taz wasn't mentioned in the tweet either).

Lance Storm always bashes TNA, he does it for the sake of doing it even when they do actually do something good (EC3/Spud for example) he still bashes them he blogged on the 6 sided ring return recently and he bashed that and in the opening sentence of the blog he said 'Granted I've never worked in a 6 sided ring...' thats where I stopped reading so I don't blame Taz at all for having a pop at Storm. TNA have seen a jump in their ratings (1.4 or 5 this week) in the past month so brilliant and I hope it continues. Keller has some valid points it did feel like an ECW rehash however for me it was still a decent show ECW rehash or not.
Rightfully TNA has been bashed a lot but try not doing it for the sake of doing it ala Storm.

Wade might have won that Twitter "battle", but he still came off as kind of a dick.
And I think TNA largely used the ECW nostalgia to garner goodwill with the NYC crowd, after coming off one of the low-points in company history prior to their last PPV.
