Just wondered if any of the Crappers had seen this film. I thought it was pretty good personally, not as good as the original (obviously) but still pretty good.
I was annoyed that a lot of the characters in it are different to the original (Damien's parents are in particular more good looking than the original) and that the script is near identical to it's predecessor. And the fact they changed Damien's Mum's death scene.
There are some good shocks though. The dream sequences added good horror to the film and the death scenes are more brutal. But it didn't scare me much.
Unlike a friend of mine who proclaimed it 'the scariest film he had ever seen'. Since i think the original is the scariest i've ever seen i kinda see his point.
Anyway enough from me.

I am also curious as The Omen (the original) is one of my favorite horror movies ever. I want to know what other people thought as well.

A friend of mine thought it was really scary, but he also thought Stay Alive was scary, so take it as you will.

This'll sound small minded and all, but no Gregory Peck and no original Nanny kills any interest for me. And the new Damien looks like a complete douche.

I thought the original wasn't that good (and the less said about the sequels the better) so I have no desire to see the remake.

It was pretty good. No original, but remakes never are. The death scenes are a little nastier, but it is pretty true to the original script. I always liked the second and third (especially the performance given by Sam Neill).

I like Liev Schrieber, so I can see him being very good in this. Not Gregory Peck good, but definitely good. The kid doesn't look quite as creep-me-out-with-a-glance as the original Damien, though.
I'll catch it on cable, I'm sure.

You kids today... I didn't see the origina Omen, so I don't know how Gregory Peck looked in it. However, I did see Gregory in "To Kill a Mockingbird". Let's put it this way, if I was gay I'd go for Liev. But I'm not, so I'll just go for Julia.

The new omen sucks donkey balls
- Liev shreiber (good actor) looks and acts bored - Julia Styles was too young for the role - The new Damien was terrible
Fair enough the FX were good but that doesn't help this POS.
It a bit like the psycho remake.

I think all remakes should burn in hell. Sounds just as horrible as the psycho remake.

sadly, AICN's Harry was right when he said the new Damien constantly pulls the Gary Coleman face of "What'choo talkin' 'bout Lewis?". Also, the music really put me off as it was channeling "The Devil's Advocate" more than Jerry Goldsmith's classic Omen Score and killed any good the visuals were pulling off. Rent it if you must but save your film money for something a bit more guaranteed that you'll enjoy like Pirates 2, Cars, Superman or See No Evil.
