In my opinion one of the most under utilize talents is Cody Rhodes. No one has been jacked around more this dude. Has plenty of in ring talent, when given the chance has shown he can get it done on the mic well enough, but he keeps getting yanked down. Look at his trajectory. Started out in Legacy, nothing more than a tool to get Orton over along with Dibase Jr. Towards the end of it, he starts to get over slightly with Dibase, what happens? They disband Legacy, after a few weeks send both of them packing, to which Dibase never returned to any sort of relevance.
They bring CR back, at this point any "overness" he's had has dissipated. After wallowing in nothingness for awhile, they slap him with the IC title as the " beautiful disaster ". In fact the only thing that REALLY stands out is the revamping of the title it's self, which was and still looks pretty cool. They take it off him, he wallows in more nothingness for awhile.
Along comes goldy, they get over(more over from the nostalgia of Goldy returning, which is temporary) at this point, once all this wears off they book him as a weak link(CR that is...), they have him come back as Stardust, in the ring he starts to get REALLY over in the ring, his athleticism starts to REALLY shine. What do they do? Yank him out of the ring and put him in these WEIRD promos that are almost painful to watch. I don't know why they continue to do this to him. Is it something that Dustin did? Maybe when he got on TV as Black Reign and blasted WWE and it's booking in WCW...? Or maybe some sort of bitterness they harbor towards the old man? Not enough to send him packing, but enough to make him sit there and watch them squander his son down the tubes when he's clearly the more talented one of the two brothers? I don't know. It's just all so confusing.

The great thing about Cody is how he can make everything work. No matter how stupid it might look on paper, he has successfully reinvented himself time after time after time. If WWE don't come to their senses at some point and give him a top push, then they're incredibly stupid. Cody always takes the ball and rolls with it and makes it interesting.

I thought how he played the " beautiful disaster " was handled great on his part, anyone else would have fallen flat on their face with that. Booking did a horrible job with it though.

He's very young and rest assured he's a future main reenter. He will just take a longer time than all the new stars like Shawn, Bret and Edge did. He's having a classic rise rather than a sudden one which is best for his old-school mentality.

I honestly see Cody Rhodes like Chris Jericho. An upper midcarder who is very creative enough to make anything work but never really a main eventer. But somehow he shines more in the midcard because he has more creative freedom to do stuff then trying to fit Vince's mold of what a top heel or top babyface should be. Personally I love this Stardust run a lot. Goldust is having tons of fun and Cody is tons of fun and it's showing.

The only reason it took Edge so long was because of injuries. And he was working with top talents and being groomed to be a top guy for years before he won his first world title.

Before, I had called him the Brad Armstrong for a new generation - the guy who gets gimmick after gimmick yet it never quite fits. Except that it always fits, Cody just never gets a push out of it.
It's baffling, really - Cody keeps getting tons of TV time in almost every gimmick they give him, but they never push him any higher than Intercontinental level, and seem insistent on keeping him in the tag division. Which is all well and good, goodness knows a dedicated tag wrestler is useful if you are serious about having a tag division, but it always feels like he's wasted due to the way WWE prioritizes things.

And he was working with top talents and being groomed to be a top guy for years before he won his first world title. True, by his 7th year he was starting to get matched up with main eventers. If it wasn't for his neck injury that knocked him out, he probably would have popped through with his first title on that 7th year.

Maybe he doesn't fit the mold of what someone at the top(HHH/Vince) think main eventers look like, and he isn't whiney enough like CM punk to make a big scene about it.

They're taking their time with him. Which is good. There's no rush for someone like Cody.

I wouldn't call 3 minutes of a ridiculous promo a week a "Great spot" these past few weeks he hasn't even been given ring time. Lol.

IMO, he deserves it more than Roman Reigns and could do a better job with it than Roman Reigns. Explain the leapfrog to me there.
