If you consider the movie canon in the rich tapestry of Mario lore, then yes.

Miyamoto said they "don't have a surname", but hell, the idea that their last name is Mario works on so many levels, so I'm sticking with it.

According to the official canon? No, They are just Mario and Luigi.

I consider Miyamoto's word the final say on this, so I'm going with the idea that they only have one name.
The fact that they have no surnames and are still referred to as the "Mario Bros." really cements Lugi's place as second banana, too.

If you consider the movie canon in the rich tapestry of Mario lore, then yes. The Super Mario Bros Super Show, which predates the movie by about 5 years, also refers to them as "Mario Mario" and "Luigi Mario". youtu.be/ibcLtePI8Zc?t=16m1s

Miyamoto said they "don't have a surname"... So it's probably Ciccone, Sarkisian or Guðmundsdóttir.

Maybe their last name is Mario, but no one knows the first name of the one in red.
