Here's the rules: You fess up to something, including what you did and why you did it. Then you leave it up to the Wrestlecrap community to determine if you are a bad person.
I'll start.
Last year I left my job at a PBS station after spending seven long years there. There was a guy who should've moved up into my old full-time position with a pay raise and benefits. But he didn't. And I'm the reason why.
His name was Don. He's 35 years old, still lives with his parents and follows Huey Lewis all across the country. On top of that, he's a short, half-bald, squinty-eyed dolt who can't say a simple hello without spraying a pint of spit past his teeth. But what really disgusted me was the way he looked at, and commented on little girls, like the ones on Zoom and other PBS Kids (notice the "Kids" part?) shows. Not a day went by when he didn't have something creepy and borderline pedophile to say. Even worse, the guy is a youth leader at his church for all of their church events. It disgusts me to think that this guy is actually around children, and even worse, in a church environment.
So on my exit interview, I told the Human Resources department that they should no longer offer this job as a full-time position since everything in the station is run on computers now. Save the company the wage and insurance costs. After all, they are a non-profit, and I wanted them to save money where they could (yeah right). Since I left, I've been back to visit friends twice, and wouldn't you know it, Don is still there, and he's doing my old job, but he's still part-time. He probably does about 39 hours a week, but the company only pays him about $8 an hour, and he gets zero insurance.
Am I a bad person?

I don't think you're a bad person, but you should have drawn attention to this guy's... ahem.... "pedantics".
I had a really good time at Wal*Mart with the suggestions box. See, it wasn't really monitored at all, so I got a lot of my friends to come in and write up fake praise for me over the course of two or three months. I then went to my manager and told him I felt like I was doing a good job (and I was, too), I was selling merchandise very well (and I was.... probably $10-15,000 in grills alone were sold due to my salesmanship at night), and I was doing every aspect of my job well, and thought I deserved a raise. He told me he agreed and that he wanted me to talk to the store manager in the morning when he arrived, apparently the store manager had been raving about me to the workers in my departments that worked different shifts, that they should have been more like me. I got a $0.50/hour raise, a badge, and a plaque.
Am I a bad person?

i would say NO because you did and said what was right and i think that Don is the bad person..i mean he sounds like a perv yet he still works there? You are FAR from being a bad person IMO

I think that what may make a person bad depends entirely on their motives. My step-mom (who would be nominated for sainthood if she were Catholic) wanted me to do something that I refused to consider. My brother who is 5 years younger than me was semi-dating a hot red-deaded "friendly" girl that we both worked with. The thing that my mom did not like was that she was my age, while my brother was 16 at the time (I was so-so on the relationship, myself). My mom wanted me to start dating her so that she would leave my brother alone (why it was okay for me to date an obvious "friendly" girl but not my brother was beyond me, but I used that to my advantage at a later date ;D).
Anyways, I didn't do it because I thought that would have been the ultimate betrayal. My mom wanted me to do it to protect her baby, not because she was inherently evil. I'm just glad that he never learned about that, and also that he didn't get too hurt when she got bored of him.

I worked 2 stints at a restaurant called Golden Corral, a franchise here in the states. I was a crew leader/server. There was this one girl who gave all the crew leaders and managers trouble but she was sleeping with the General Manager so we couldn't get rid of her. The serving crew started to hate her b/c they ended up having to cover for her. On easter, she was an hour late because she went binge drinking the night before. The serving crew got together and started to make her life a living hell. Sabotaging her work and stealing customers. Nothing seemed to work until one day, she came in high as a kite. Me, another crew leader and our best server got together and decided to start messing with her. We started piling dirty plates in her sectioned. A table of 7 sat dowd in her section. They ended up leaving her a pretty good tip. We stole it, wrote on her comment card that she should be fired and placed it on the table. She came back and went bezerk. She went into the back of the restaurant and started throwing anything she could get her hands on. We watched her do a line of coke in front of the manager. it was the strangest thing I ever saw. Did she get fired? of course not. We ended up getting her a job @ another restaurant and she quit golden corral. She ended up causing a fire @ the other restaurant and they had to close down for 2 months.

Probably better that restaurant than yours, Billy. I just wholeheartedly hope no one was hurt or killed. Sounds like this chick is the bad person, so I'm going to vote NAY on your story.
Now...here's mine.
Several years ago I became friends again with an ex-girlfriend who I dated for about a month. She had a boyfriend who knew me. Well...one night her and I were hanging out at my place watching TV because her and her man had gotten into it. So I was there for her and sure enough, one thing lead to another and we had sex. That wasn't the only time. We probably had sex together...I'll say off the top of my head five times. One of those times being in a threesome with that chick that ended up going to jail...that was around the time I was seeing her as well. Apparently this guy she was with at the time didn't really trust her around other guys...except me. He trusted me...when he really shouldn't have.
Although I think I know the answer to this...does this make me a bad guy?

billy you are bad, she didn't need your "help". you stole the money that she worked hard for. because you thought you had to cover for her.
mad johnny here is bad too. not as bad as you though billy
but i know i am a bad person too. i don't need others telling me i am or not i know i am.

I don't believe in vaguely deciding "I'm a bad person because of this or that." Have a value system, have a sense of ethics and morality, try to live by your values, and confront yourself when you fail. It's a lot easier being a "good person" when you have a standard for what makes good.

Well...if it means anything to anyone, I do believe that the karma of doing my previously mentioned actions is biting me on the ass with my inability to get a girlfriend of my own and I think the karma may come full circle if she goes and cheats on me. I dunno. Karma can be a b---h sometimes. So that I will admit.

Y'know, this is funny. I have a bit of a situation that fits this thread. I've been friends with someone for close to 20 years. We live a few states apart at this point in time and I may have the opportunity to see her soon, though she doesn't know it yet. I'm considering not telling her. It's not that I don't want to see her. Far from it. But... she and her husband are positively horrendous with money. They're in their 30s and they act like kids in a candy store pretty much 24-7. Every purchase of theirs is an impulse purchase. Which is pretty dumb, as they aren't exactly Rockefellers. And, to make a long story short, he's on temporary workman's comp and the job is screwing with his pay, i.e. not giving any of it to him. (It's a very long story - but in the end it works out that they're probably trying to get him to quit because he's an ass.) Since we're so far away, we don't talk much, but we do keep in touch via the Internet and a blog site we both belong to. And recently, they've both been expounding on their money troubles. Going so far as to try and solicit money from the people on their 'friends list'.  Both my husband and I looked at each other and simultaneously said "We can't tell them we'll be there, can we." Because I can hear the Mooching Machine gearing up already. And this isn't the first time they've done this. So, I find myself asking "am I a bad person for this?" I feel bad about sneaking in under the radar and not spending time with them... but I also know my Hamlet. "Neither a borrower nor a lender be..." and it's easier to avoid them than to have to deal with the sob stories. |

Kar don't feel guilty. I'm in kind of a similar situation and at the end of the day they have to take responsibility for their own financial management. Sometimes you've just gotta let them get in up to their necks and claw their way back out again. It's something they have done to themselves and not something you've done. There is no shame in trying to avoid a situation that will most likely cause you grief.

I have some friends like that. There's one that has other friends that are rich, and he's always hinting around at things he'd like. I finally pointed out to him that I'm virtually unemployed and there's no way in hell I'm letting him borrow my computer for the summer, I use it to earn what little money I do earn via writing.
