AC Milan just nine years ago. With one exception, that's the side that were made to look like a Sunday league side for six minutes in the Champions League final.

Hoping Arsenal's result tonight means we will play with more grit and determination away from home against the big sides this season, or it could be a sign we are lucky and we were crap for 80 minutes anyway who knows

Good signing considering they're selling Borini for the same amount & he's getting to that age now where he might actually grow up. Shows how screwed AC Milan are though (they're broke) Another jam packed weekend of football ahead, wonder what the shock of the weekend will be, there always seems to be at least one big one that no one seems coming Had me a cheeky little bet for tomorrow so fingers crossed Milan aren't really broke, the owner is still worth $8 Billion, but he refuses to pump any money into the team. Which means the team is broke then.

Anyone know a site that has a list of American players who play for EPL teams? I take it there aren't many.

Anyone know a site that has a list of American players who play for EPL teams? I take it there aren't many. Jozy Altidore at Sunderland, Geoff Cameron and Brek Shea at Stoke, Tim Howard at Everton, Brad Guzan at Villa, Cody Cropper at Southampton, Brad Friedel at Tottenham. Based off a quick browse of Wikipedia. 7 players in total, 4 of them goalkeepers. May have missed one or two, though. You might find more Americans in the German Bundesliga. That certainly was the case a few years back, not too sure about now.

Good old Liverpool. Probably the best team in the first half then one defensive hesitation leads to them being behind at the break.

It may only be the League cup and they're not playing their strongest side but United are currently being beat 4-0 by Milton Keynes Dons.

I guess I was wrong about Celtic getting destroyed again in Champions League qualifying. Still, their inability to get past the champions of Slovenia, and inability to put up a fight against the champions of Poland (not to mention their close shave against the champions of Kazakhstan last season) is a sure sign of a great decline in Scottish football. Such is football these days. Bigger countries, bigger markets, larger audience, better teams. Smaller countries won't be able to keep up. The Dutch league is similarly (but not as much) declining.
Regarding Manchester United and Milton Keynes Dons, I wonder what the reaction will be, and what it would have been had it been Moyes in charge.

I've always been fond of MK Dons. Whether people like them or not, they made that move work, and they were superb tonight.

Nice to see Southampton taking the cup competitions seriously this year.

Obviously, getting blown out by MK Dons regardless of who was on the pitch and the fact that it was the League Cup is beyond inexcusable, but full marks to them and a well deserved win.
That said, it's one less competition for United to worry about and fewer fixtures as a result. The only thing that should matter for United is the league. That's all. Sure, I'd like an FA Cup run, but I would gladly go out immediately if it meant top-four.
Di Maria is a fantastic player, but not what we needed. It's like getting a new paint job for your car to repair its broken window. He's a huge talent and he's certainly going to contribute, but as long as guys like Tom Cleverley and Ashley Young find themselves getting regular minutes, all of these same problems are going to exist.
What pisses me off the most is that our midfield crisis would never have happened if we didn't let Paul Pogba walk on a free.

He's this year's Juan Mata, an amazing player who's been a key part of a great European side, we have to sign him! Erm, ok, what do we do with him now?

Chelsea getting rid of Mata was a dumb move. Never understood that one. As crazy as when they sold Robben

Arsenal make it into the Champions League group stage just, man that was a nervy game to watch. Luckily Sanchez got his first goal for us but otherwise we looked toothless in attack and now Giroud is out til January I can't see us challenging for the title with this strike force.
Real story was the Ludogrorets v Steaua game where the Ludogorets keeper was sent off with 2 minutes of extra time left and one of their defenders went in goal for the shootout and saved 2 penalties!

Can't say I'm surprised but Rooney is the new England captain. The man has consistently under-achieved for his country when it matters and slagged off fans who dared to boo him. Considering England is all about going with more youthful players at the moment, I think it would have been nice to see them choose one of the younger (in terms of not playing for their country until more recently) for the role.

First Finland's Euro 2016 qualifying matches are selling tickets with some speed. Should I buy a ticket to the Finland-Greece match, which is our home opener? Probably the highest profile match in this group that I could watch live.
