Gee, what do ya know, straight from PWInsider: Just to clear the air on rumors making the rounds, neither CM Punk nor Alberto Del Rio have filed lawsuits against WWE, much less beaten them in court. If anyone actually believes that either filed and won a lawsuit in no time flat obviously has never paid attention to how the legal system works in the United States - and I have a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn. HEY! THAT BRIDGE IS MINE!

I don't think anyone thinks they won lawsuits, just that they were legal matters. Punk's letter is supposedly standard procedure to avoid issues with royalties, not a lawsuit itself, and Alberto's case seems more like the WWE opted not to take any legal action(yet) as opposed to winning a lawsuit. Either way the end result is the same. ...Unless the WWE decides to take action against Del Rio, though I sincerely doubt they would want that considering the possible tmz circus.

Except people are thinking he won, look at the original thread for this. Hell even in the last few pages of this one people were happy ADR won his case ignoring that there was no chance that a case existed. The Punk/WWE issue was the same way until someone who deals with those issues actually posted to explain what most likely happened and people ignored that. The only thing ADR has done that could be in violation of his non-compete would be his AAA stuff and since that is in Mexico, there was little chance WWE could do anything. When it comes to these 3rd rate indies and conventions he's booking here, WWE doesn't care. They never have and never will as companies with TV and PPV are the only companies they care about and that has been known for years now. ADR is working the marks hard but for some strange reason people who should know better are buying it hook, line and sinker because I guess WWE is mean.

Another thing that supports what you said is that Del Rio didn't work the Lucha Underground tapings this past weekend.

My bad, hadn't read the entire thread. I think the reason the WWE doesn't care about him isn't even where he is working so much as the fact that they really, really don't have much to gain from keeping him working anywhere. The extended one-year no compete clause was bad, and I honestly doubt they want to test that out in court. It gets very close to stopping him from making a living. As for the WWE being bad...well, frankly I do think the one-year no compete is not the kindest of things to do, no. Though yeah, ADR is milking this for all it's worth and making himself a bit more heroic than he really is. Can't blame him though. Not entirely unsympathetic about him as far as how he was fired, and the one year no-compete after the firing frankly did seem like a little much, so I honestly am happy for the guy a little.

No no no no no Ric!!! What do you mean the dirt sheets were wrong. Of course CM Punk is suing the WWE. Of course ADR won his lawsuit already. Bahhhhh, you don't know what you are talking about. I'm calling Newz on this. /sarcasm off <Or people could have used common sense and realized it was all bullshit before "the sheets" had to tell people to use their brains>

This Ray Rice thing has made me wonder if there was video footage of ADR slapping the guy if more people would feel he was in the wrong. I thought ADR was great I was a huge fan of his and I was in a crowd that gave him the second largest pop after Cena. He was one of the best in ring workers the WWE has ever had and was a huge star who with another sustained face run could have been massive, and the WWE had to fire him. There is no way they couldn't have.

I know practically not a thing about how the US legal system works, but I figured that Punk's letter was basically on the same level as a cease and desist. A lawyer saying "I see that you're doing X. Please stop that now, so that we won't have to take this to court, and can just move on with our lives."
