bigstory.ap.org/article/dwayne-rock-johnson-set-dc-comics-filmHe confirmed it to the Associated Press. But it seems he's kinda being coy about whether it's as the superhero Shazam (Captain Marvel, obviously not using that name...) or the villain Black Adam. However, given his love for the guy and the picture perfect casting, it's got to be Black Adam. .....right?

Yeah, I mean I can't buy him having Billy Batson's innocence, it's gotta be Black Adam.

It better be Black Adam. Dwayne's hardly ever the villain in movies. The last time he was a villain was in "Get Smart", and that wasn't until the last portion of that film. Black Adam is the perfect comic book character for him.

I'll believe it when DC announce it. It seems more like he's confirmed they are talking to him than given him an actual role yet.
Still, if he can't play Namor then he is the perfect Black Adam.

I believe he was also a villain in the Doom movie before that. If I remember correctly, he didn't turn into the villain until the last ten minutes or so much like Get Smart. On a related note, how has Get Smart not had a sequel yet? I thought it was prety enjoyable.

On a related note, how has Get Smart not had a sequel yet? I thought it was prety enjoyable. I agree on that. Steve Carell was weak (I believe he tried too hard), but everybody else was solid. I still watch it for the Great Khali's scenes. The last time he was a villain was in "Get Smart", and that wasn't until the last portion of that film. Black Adam is the perfect comic book character for him. I believe he was also a villain in the Doom movie before that. The Rock has a tendency to have heel turns late in the films, although those are still rare. "The Mummy Returns" was probably the only film I can think of where he was the bad guy throughout, although "The Scorpion King" presents him as a babyface who eventually falls from grace. Like I said; Black Adam is the perfect character because he is a villain tortured by insecurities and regret, which results in him becoming evil of out necessity. I want to see that type of guy explored by Dwayne.

Considering how DC/WB's been casting these movies lately he's probably playing Dr. Sivana.
