This is just mind boggling to me.
Robber Sues Victims After They Beat Him
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) -- A man is suing an auto-parts store for assault and battery after he attempted to hold up the business and employees responded by beating him with a metal pipe.
Dana Buckman, 46, walked into an auto shop brandishing a semiautomatic pistol last summer, only to have it turned on him by two AutoZone employees, police said. The men beat Buckman with a metal pipe and held him with his own gun.
Buckman escaped and was arrested a week later.
He pleaded guilty to first-degree robbery and was sentenced to 18 years in prison as a repeat violent felon.
Buckman claims the men chased him out of the store and continued to beat him. He is suing the auto shop and the men for the injuries he suffered and for emotional distress.
"In some respects, you wonder if a case like this even needs a defense. It speaks for itself," said lawyer Patrick B. Naylon, who represents AutoZone and the employees.
But lawyer Phillip R. Hurwitz, who represents Buckman, said the employees crossed the line by pursuing Buckman and attacking him.
"The danger was past," Hurwitz said. "These two employees took it upon themselves to go after Mr. Buckman after he left the store."

That's ridiculous! It's like that guy Tony Martin (U.K. based 'Crappers might know what I'm talking about). He was arrested & jailed because he shot a gypsy who was trying to burgle his home! Way to go backwards-ass judicial system!

Well...my only hope is that the judge in this case doesn't get together and sip lattes with the dimwit judge who let the half-pint pedophile off with 10 years probation because of his size. That would make the justice system look even worse in my eyes.
This is a Stella award if I've ever seen one.

Not the dumbest lawsuit I've heard of.
I once heard that in Orange County, CA, there was a woman who tried to sue a local gym for "breaking up her marriage"
What happened was her husband would frequently go to that gym, and one day he slipped while in the showers and ended up breaking his leg (or ankle, I forget).
Anyway, while he stayed home recuperating, he found a woman while chatting online and began an extramarital relationship with her. Eventually he left his wife for that woman, and her genius rationale was that if her hubby didn't get injured at that gym, he would have never cheated on her.
Edit: I don't have a source, I know. However, I remember Jay Leno reading an article on this during his "Headlines" segment a few years back.

In the UK, this dude would win his case, get thousands of pounds of legal aid, have the police apologise to him for violating his human rights, be awarded compensation, and have Cherie Booth QC defend him.

Hell, who knows if the ACLU would jump all over this one here in the states? Goddamn leeches. What is not wrong with the ACLU is not their intent, but they sometimes get the applications wrong. I understand the notion of defending liberties even when they are less than clear-cut in order to help more obvious cases in the future, but sometimes it can be more than a little off. I won't comment too much more on this, because it is a charged topic. I will close with this; I saw in the news the other day that a woman is suing her dating service because they could not find her a handsome, charming multi-millionaire to marry. Granted, she paid about $70-100 G for it, but still...

Granted, she paid about $70-100 G for it, but still... Does she know how good a gigolo she could have gotten with that kind of money? I think she wanted to marry up again. The money that she spent supposedly came from her last husband who passed away. If this is true, she gives women a bad name.
