RVD has probably done more botches than most of the divas roster in his last run alone, bar maybe Eva Marie and Rosa. He's not hated though, because... Nostalgia? There are plenty of others who botch way more than the likes of Paige and AJ but aren't given the same reception. Maybe it's not because they're legendary botch machines and maybe... That that crowd has been taught not to care about the division because WWE doesn't themselves? Or just plain old simple mysogyny, hence why people make the same 'piss break' jokes regardless of the talent of the women in the match? It's true WWE needs better storylines for the division, but that's not the fault of the divas themselves. I'm not gunna read 6 pages of a Divas argument thread, but I want to point out, even if it already has, that it's almost uncomfortable the amount of shit Rosa Mendes gets from pretty much everyone around here, especially considering all the crap she's gone through. Even though I can't praise her as a wrestler, it is ridiculous how many people leap to believing every sordid rumour they've heard about her. It's more likely that Vince kept her around because he's sympathetic to what she's been through than many of the things said about how she has a job.

RVD's matches lately to me have been terrific. Also haven't noticed much botching, and definitely not any that is bad enough that it effects the crowd. He's also doing things that most wrestlers aren't doing. And he actually gets a lot of flack on here, which I disagree with personally. And botching isn't the only measure of what is or isn't a good wrestling match. Sabu has plenty of beloved matches that include some botches that didn't do much to stop the crowd from loving it. But again, RVD to me has been pretty smooth in the ring lately.
I like women's wrestling, I do think a lot of the wrestlers WWE chooses to push in the divas division aren't very good, but hey. I dig Paige vs AJ, Naomi is fun, Natalya is good, etc. The division hasn't been focused on much, it hasn't had too much great material lately. If it was better (including WWE giving it a chance to be) it could be a lot more over.
Random note, I preferred the Women's Championship belt, I don't get the whole pushing of the "divas" branding thing, it doesn't always fit.

For me, I just don't understand WWE's mentality towards the divas. That could apply to practically every aspect of the company, but still... If you don't care, they won't care. It's not even that hard to improve the division. Cycle out the weaker talent, putting them into non-wrestling roles, and showcase the strong talent, giving them the spotlight. The Divas Championship should be a huge deal. It's the top female prize in the largest wrestling company in the world... Present it as such.

The Divas Championship should be a huge deal. It's the top female prize in the largest wrestling company in the world... Present it as such. It's a pity as they do indeed show moments of support for women in wrestling (let's ignore the content of stories/them only being eye candy even in these roles as that's another discussion). Right now Lana is a big deal as a manager, a good talker with a cheesy gimmick, who happens to be working with a star who's slowly moving up the company and constantly getting TV time. Lana is the most important part of the Rusev character as she gives us a reason to want to see him lose. AJ may annoy some people (including me at times, despite being a fan) but she drew big reactions from fans and was pushed in storylines, sure, the 'kiss someone and be the love interest who's insane' thing is unsavoury and crap, BUT they did consistently give her time and still make her the single biggest factor in all of the main stories for 6 months. I have hope for the future really, given NXT has put time into so many upcoming women and they have capable people on the main shows right now in the likes of Emma/Paige/Natalya when she puts the effort in, the talent is there to capitalize on good storylines/consistent screen time should it be given to them, and I think it will as the landscape of the backstage area changes. As much as I think the OP was a bit of a berk in how s/he presented their argument, I do agree with the fundamental idea that women in wrestling are often written off in seemingly needless ways. Looking at the Observer ratings for matches and seeing decent women's matches "WORST MATCH OF THE NIGHT" is frustrating and further reinforces the old boy's club nonsense that wrestling fans really need to try to get away from.
