And she was born 3 months ago.
It's good to see the closeness of my family is still going strong & we just found out last night that my cousin & his wife gave birth to a little girl...IN MARCH!!!
I knew my aunt wasn't happy at the fact that my wife & I had the first great grandchild, but come on. And I knew she was severed ties with our whole family, but MAN, what a joke.
This should be a proud moment in our family since the passing of both my grandparents/her parents.
It's sad. We all used to be close when we lived in NY. My cousin & I were like brothers. And moving split everybody up. And my grandparents divorce divided the whole family.
And to think, the middle name they picked for their daughter is my daughter's first name.

I know what you mean. When I was a kid our family (on my dad's side) used to throw a big "day before school starts" party where all us kids would get toys and we would play games and such. It was an annual thing, and every cousin and parent would go. It was fun. The whole family was close.
Then there was some disagreements over my grandmother's care. She was very sick and needed either a live-in nurse or to be put in a home. Between my dad and his 4 brothers and sisters, they couldn't come up with a solution. My dad wanted my grandma's house and so did they. Nobody wanted to pony up for a nurse and nobody wanted to put her in a home, leaving the house empty and ripe for the taking. It got to the point that my grandma was duped into making three different wills, leaving the house to a different sibling.
So eventually they got pissed at each other, and stopped talking. It spread to their kids, so my cousins were not allowed to hang out with me anymore. It was so bad we threw a graduation party for my sister and nobody showed. That really pissed me off.

At least the kid didn't show up around a holiday and you had that awkward "I don't have a present for you because I didn't know you were coming/existed" moment.

my mom's brother: had traded his white truck for my dad's motorcycle and some cash. truck didn't even run, my dad tried to fix it, to no avail. now my dad's motorcycle sits in Joe's backyard, rusting away.
my dad's sister: recently divorced, her husband had been doing weed and spending all the income (that my dad's sister would make) on himself. he even went so far as to say "I don't care about the kids". Now he's jealous that my dad's sister is with somebody else, since the new guy's taking the kids out to do things, while all he did was sleep until 1 PM every day, never did anything with his kids.
That's about 10% of what my family's like.
