f*** Gunner!.......lol I'm curious about the guy, 99% of us here at FAN either hate him, or think he's a joke, the only positive threads that were written about him quickly turn into a joke. When I first saw him he was a freaking security guard, he did that gimmick for a long time, then all of the sudden he's a badass? I never believed that. I never understood what being intense was haha.
To me Gunner, is the most generic wrestler out there, shitty black trunks, bland tribal tattoos, I kinda expect "St. Anger" being his theme song, even the name Gunner sucks, at least Phil Shatner sounds cool, and something the fans could chant, and his twitter feed is the most boring one in the wrestling business.
I didn't like that he buried $5 Wrestling, or the PTSD promo, which was insulting, being a veteran he looked uncomfortable doing it, I read that thread and learned that there are veterans who post here in FAN that were mad about it, I would like to take a minute and thank you for keeping your country safe.
I'll post two videos were Gunner actually comes across as likeable.
lol, at the 0:37 mark, his mother said that he's intense about everything he does.
The funniest part starts around the 1:22 mark, Gunner actually pokes fun at the whole $5 wrestling, "f*** Gunner" song, situation, also it's a crime that Luke Gallows isn't on tv.

He strikes me as exactly the kinda guy Johnny Ace would've hired for the 'E in the mid-00s.

Now that I think about it, someone here at FAN said that he actually was supposed to be signed to a developmental deal or something, that actually Phil Shatner was a huge deal back in the indies.

Gunner started out as a CAW whose only trait is he is intense. He would been one of those many OVW/WWE washouts due to him not being a standout in the ring. He's serviceable but not really memorable. TNA gave Gunner a strong singles push when he broke away from Murphy and Immortal. Problem was he was still a CAW who made constipated faces that suppose to be intense. So the crowd reacted with apathy. Him and Crimson (remember him?) got the strongest push during the BFG Series. TNA kept up with the push longer than they do with other up and coming wrestlers. In hopes of actual character development, they made him a super patriot. He went full Marine. Which wasn't bad until they kept hitting you on the head with an anvil telling you he's a Marine. Not the first nor last time TNA had a veteran to exploit. So he was a intense former Marine who was beating people in a way that would make Roman Reigns blush. Then came the Samuel Shaw and the PTSD bullshit. You think as a veteran, Gunner would not want to be associated with something exploiting a truly serious matter like PTSD for meaningless fodder for a dumb angle. But here we are. his current angle with Shaw and Anderson just might be the worst in TNA history.

A horrible asshole, that is just part of the Vetsplotation that TNA loves to use. Went along with a storyline where PTSD was used as a focal point to cure a person who never had it, has no problems using PTSD or his experience as vet to get himself over. Can't do a promo with yelling because that is the only thing known about him is that he is intense has no characteristics other than that

He has talent and potential, could be something with the right direction but TNA ain't the place for that.

But here we are. his current angle with Shaw and Anderson just might be the worst in TNA history. Yeah he was a CAW template, worse than Cody Rhodes on his first year, by the wrestling rules a security guard is just a one night extra, he gets jobbered then you don't see him again, but by giving the security guard a name and have him stick around long enough, people will only perceive him as a jobber.
I wasn't around for the King era, so I can't comment on him, but his 100 facts about gunner were hilarious. I want to like the guy I really do, but between the shitty gimmick, the ptsd promo, and his twitter feed, it's impossible.
