Well, it will until Avengers 2 draws near and the reset button is hit.

Well, it will until Avengers 2 draws near and the reset button is hit. I don't even think they care as much about that anymore, honestly.

I imagine this will probably follow the same route that Thunderstrike and Beta Ray Bill took. Someone other than "Donald Blake" Thor gets the hammer briefly, they roll with it for a sec, and then Odin gives them a new hammer and they do their own thing.

Well, it will until Avengers 2 draws near and the reset button is hit. I haven't read comics in like a year and a half, and this happens? You're absolutely right, they're just doing it to get hype for the second reboot of the company in 5 years. I can't wait for that reset button and have things back the way I like.

Something I don't get is, when Marvel promoted this, they were adamant in referring to her as the God of Thunder, and not Goddess. It was a point I recall them driving home. Why now of all times to be a stickler for pronouns?

Something I don't get is, when Marvel promoted this, they were adamant in referring to her as the God of Thunder, and not Goddess. It was a point I recall them driving home. Why now of all times to be a stickler for pronouns? Also most people usually mention the inscription as "if They be worthy" in recent times. and again they get the power of Thor... Thor Odinson is his name, it's not a Superhero Mantle.... that is literally the only thing about this that bothers me Though as I stated earlier a line of dialogue could fix this... and like the majority of these Earth shattering changes this will be back to business as usual by the end of the story... so it's not something to get hung up about. Well, it will until Avengers 2 draws near and the reset button is hit. I haven't read comics in like a year and a half, and this happens? You're absolutely right, they're just doing it to get hype for the second reboot of the company in 5 years. I think you are confusing Marvel and DC.

It's a magic hammer that despite being based on Norse legend is, for some reason, written in English. A pronoun change is hardly going to be out of its boundaries. I presume if a French person picked it up, the inscription would appear in French.

Maybe they have some fear of connotations, but it isn't like "god" has any lack of baggage.

I'm sure Falcon being Captain America's going to be a permanent change, too.

God's perfectly capable of being a gender neutral term in its own right.
