i can only imagine the amount of rage adding the letter "s" to an inscription on the hammer will bring about amongst a lot of people.

my big issue with doing stories like this is, in this day and age, with this cynical a fanbase, you couldn't come up with a more blatant way to say "none of this matters". everyone KNOWS the status quo will get restored in time for the next movie, and there's a very real chance the character gets relegated either to c-list fodder or comic limbo.

I haven't read comics in like a year and a half, and this happens? You're absolutely right, they're just doing it to get hype for the second reboot of the company in 5 years. I think you are confusing Marvel and DC. Nah, after the moronic Age of Ultron they changed the direction of the company, then after Original Sin, I mean I was checking Wolverine out (and apparently he's dying soon LOLMarvel) and he had like 2 series in the meantime, like Wolverine v5 (for example I don't know the exact number) transformed into Wolverine v6 after only 10 issues. Maybe the change wasn't as drastically as DC's, but you can't change direction so often, I'm not even counting after Avengers vs X-Men that also was supposed to be another direction they were heading, with the uncanny avengers deal, in my opinion you can't change that roster so quick, otherwise it doesn't mean anything.
Another poster mentioned the Clone Saga, yeah we'll survive this. I had to endure the following changes to the status quo: Agent X (after they killed Deadpool the first time, his replacement was the most vanilla super hero of all time, like I think they've even admitted that he sucked by making him fat.) Johnny Storm's death (Future foundation and the kids sucked a dick). Secret Invasion (the downfall of Bendis's work) Dark Reign (too f***ing long) and last but not least...One More Day

I'm sure Falcon being Captain America's going to be a permanent change, too. I've also heard that they're going to kill Wolverine and keep him dead for reals this time. Pretty sure some one at Marvel already said he would be back. Also, Future Foundation and the kids were freaking awesome, both in Hickman and Fraction's books.

Nah, DC Reboots everything. Marvel just undoes the changes they make (Excepting One More Day, of course, where they really pulled a DC). It's a subtle difference, but an important one. Because DC will clumsily wipe out your fan favorites, while they still exist in Marvel, just under a dumb name because they didn't move books. Of course, the important point at the end of the day is that nothing you read in comics ever truly matters, unless it's the death of a lesser villain or the loved one of a hero.

My issue is they're trying their best to sell us that this is a big, lasting change, but it's obviously not, and it just seems silly of them.

Which is pretty damned honest for a comic company. I mean, at this point they are like Bill Clinton. They are lie to us, we know they lie to us, they know we know and we let them slide because they are charming.

I tink Wolverine should die every time FOX makes an X-Men movie.

What i do like about this whole goofballness is her outfit. It looks like what Thor would wear, not just some hot girl in a bikini and a hammer. In a comic book world full. of ridiculous women's costumes, this and Captain Marvel's suits gives me a glimmer of hope.

Yeah Captain Marvel's is the rare instance of them giving a character MORE clothes. (In the case of Carol).

I tink Wolverine should die every time FOX makes an X-Men movie. Only if it's like Kenny from South Park. He just comes back with no explanation and no one acts any different.

I'm sorry but there only one woman worthy to wield that hammer: X-men: The Asgardian Wars is one of my all time favorite comic book collections, and I adore Storm as a Thor-like character...but does Marvel keep forgetting Thor is a class 100 strength character? He can physically go toe to toe with the Hulk, shatter mountains like glass, and lift skyscrapers over his head. While Storm's weather control is possibly on par with Thor's...she's got the normal strength of an ordinary human.

Well, yeah, that seems kind of obvious, otherwise it'd be weird, just like it'll be weird in a few months when they inevitably return to the statu quo if they don't change the inscription back. Seriously, if you want a new badass female, why not just make a new character? At least she'd had a better chance of sticking around. This is just gimmicky. It's blatant they're only doing this for cheap publicity. "Hey look! We turned Thor into a woman and changed the inscription to use a female pronoun! How symbolic! Girl Power and stuff! Check out how inclusive we are! What do you mean you would rather have us give already established female characters some lasting development instead of dicking around with a famous franchise for something that will obviously have no impact in our company's universe?!" When you think about it, they're just introducing a new female character, who isn't even really a new character, yet for some reason they treat it like it's an earth-shattering event, like there has never been a female superhero before. Wonder Woman came out over 70 years ago, guys... It's a magic hammer that despite being based on Norse legend is, for some reason, written in English. A pronoun change is hardly going to be out of its boundaries. I presume if a French person picked it up, the inscription would appear in French. With current trends the way they are, if a French person picked it up, half the wrds would probably be in English for no damn reason anyway, and none of them would be appropriate to the context. So if an internet troll picked up the hammer it says "bring back teh attitude era, ROFL I'M THOR" You forgot one has to be worthy for it to work.

I still think this is dumb, but judging by what I think about most comics lore, I'm probably the wrong person to analyze this.
