I liked the feud more when the premise was that they are basically "friends" who are only a step away from shoving a dagger in the other's back, being people who make few friends and keep fewer still. They could stand to tone the other elements down, it was perfectly fine as it was.

They're making sure this feud sucks extra so when Nikki wins at NoC, the Bellas will seem like Trish/Lita in comparison. That'd be apt if the Bella feud didn't suck a bunch of dick even worse than this. I mean it's like comparing fake lesbian acting to two girls getting ready for a gangbang porno acting, both are total gooker level trash. |

As crappy as the Paige/AJ stuff has been, imagine how much it'll be missed when Nikki wins the title on sunday and Nikki/Brie gets MORE focus.

It's all just getting a bit uncomfortable to watch honestly. Which is not something I want to be saying for a Paige/AJ feud, something a lot of us have wanted since Paige was signed even.

They're caught in the middle-ground, is the thing. They WANT to do HLA... 60% of their fans (and probably half the writers) aren't aware there's a difference between HLA and actual gay women. But, they know that would be terrible and make them look bad, and I honestly believe that the other half of the people involved (including AJ herself, I suspect) want to legit do an interesting story about queer characters. I agree with your first point. I wouldn't assume AJ to be chomping at the bit to do a lesbian storyline but the story itself feels like the WWE wants to do something more titillating than they're allowed to so they're skirting around it awkwardly. I didn't mind how it started because it was pretty clear that they were just playing mind games but especially last night it felt like a TNA angle. They're mad at each other, then they're being all flirty and weird, it's just random things happening because they don't know what to do anymore. AJ just strikes me as someone who's pretty far left politically (don't know for sure, just my feeling from the hipsterness), and she doesn't seem too worried about getting typecast. Even if it's not her, I do think someone said, "Hey, let's do a gay angle," and... no, neither wrestling bookers nor wrestling fans can be trusted with that. |

I thought it was embarrassing the first time I saw it in this feud. These two women are both very talented wrestlers. Naturally, they should be doing something along the lines of wrestling...right?
Except they're not. They're crawling around and acting "sexy" and the matches they do wrestle wind up being shorter than the radio versions of this week's latest cardboard pop songs. It's atrocious. Blame Vince, Kevin, whomever. This is the state that women's wrestling is in, in the year 2014.

Although, I personally find it a bigger issue that they seem to have taken a big back seat to the Prima (Bella) Donna drama. |
