Way back in the year 2007 (kids, ask your parents) Bobby Lashley was being pushed as one of the upper echelon superstars in WWE. He won the ECW Championship, feuded with the McMahons, and even got two WWE Title matches against John Cena, one on one and in the Five Pack Challenge. He seemed destined to be a face in the main event for years to come, before abruptly leaving WWE. Fast forward to 2014, and Roman Reigns is in a similar position. He's getting a huge push to the top of the card and could very well be "the man" in WWE, possibly even taking over for John Cena. Both men rely on a high impact offense and a Spear as a finisher. Neither man is a dynamo on the mic, but has a certain amount of charisma.
So the question to you, FAN, is which of thes two powerhouses do you think is would have been/is better suited to potentially give Cena a run for his money as the face of the company?

Bobby Lashley's Push was so overt even little children thought it was stupid and over the top.

See, if you could combine the positives aspects of both, you'd have one hell of a wrestler.
Reigns is the epitome of cool, but he's just not very interesting once the bell rings aside from his superman punch that will get old eventually.
Lashley was a giant doofus, but he could display some awesome feats of athleticism (the dive through the cage onto Umaga is one of my favourite things ever).
You throw Reign's cool factor and good looks and Lashley's strength and athleticism into a blender and you wont have to worry about new main eventers for a while.

Reigns and it is not even close. Reigns is better in the ring, better on the mic, and better at posing.

Comparing 2007 Lashley to 2014 Reigns and Reigns easy.
But 2014 Lashley is better than he by all means should be as the current TNA champion. As an entirely silent killer who has MVP do all of his talking, he's been booked flawlessly all summer. Somehow, TNA's figured out how to accentuated all of his positives and obscure his flaws.
Reigns is still dynamite, but I just have to give credit where credit is due and say Lashley's improved tremendously over the past seven years. Both right now are pretty great.

I like them both and don't blame them for being overpushed in certain regards.

God what an awful choice, this is like wanting to be crapped on or having someone throw vomit in your face.

Reigns easily, for many of the reasons others have said and the fact he excelled in The Shield for a year and half so there's at least a solid base for the mega push.

I thought about including 2014 Lashley as a third option, but he'd have to have his mouthpiece. And he's pushing 40, so he's not really someone I'd build the future around. But he is currently killing it in TNA.

This is probably the most overlooked fact of his push not just that fans love him and pop for every move he makes. The guy built up a huge fanbase for almost 2 years before his current and is insanely over. Reigns has not been over pushed in any way shape or form someone who the fans can not get enough of should be pushed exactly as hard as Reigns is being pushed it is a push the fans wanted and have been ecstatic about getting.

These guys are actually both good examples of guys who don't fit the WWE mold of the "main eventer" and trying to be forced into that mold makes them hugely less entertaining than they otherwise would be. If Lashley was just allowed to be a clean-cut, polite, withdrawn person who calls everybody "sir" (but still was a monster in the ring), then he'd have been an interesting, refreshing, novel character. If Reigns was a laconic, easy-going, slightly sleazy ladies man (but still was a monster in the ring)... again, he'd be a refreshing and interesting character.
But nope, there's only one kind of character they want on top.

I prefer Reigns and feel that his push has been more organic than Lashley's was.
Lashley is doing pretty good with the TNA title, all things considered, but in 2007, he was out of his depth more often than not, and it wasn't clicking. His brief feud with Cena was actually pretty decent, but crap like the Gauntlet match put a bitter taste in a lot of fans' mouths.

Reigns has pretty much had to have Rollins and Ambrose cover for him in the Shield. Also Lashley was toiling in the midcard and getting it done as a singles wrestler BEFORE they gave him the ECW Title. And I honestly didn't notice that they were "pushing him hard" until the feud with Vince. Reigns never really got to work on his ring skills because his only job in the Shield was to blind tag in and hit the spear for the win after Rollins and Ambrose did most of the work. He is over, but he needs more time before they actually go all in on the push.

Reigns definitely. He stands out.
Lashley looked like a small black child took the Super Soldier serum from Captain America.

As much crap as I'm giving Reigns, he's in every aspect superior to Lashley.

Lashley is a straight up goon over in TNA. He comes off like such a megastar compared to the rest of their roster that it's ridiclous.
