Dark Knight is its own thing and nails DC, and Captain America 2 is its own thing, so leaving Dark Knight aside for a moment, Cap 2 is just about the perfect comic book movie. That's the summit.
There are some who define "great" as pandering to their own selfish every whim, and for those people, the delusion that the world is their own oyster can't be argued against. So whatever floats their boat is cool. But in the grand scheme of an aesthetic and entertainment middle ground, Cap 2 is comic book perfection.
If you say you are a Marvel comic book fan and have anything bad to say about Winter Soldier, the "Your Argument is Invalid" lettering is your version of the "Hollywood" letters.
Yes, that's stated definitively, but it's really my attempt at bold opinion. (Also serves to emphasize how awesome I think Winter Soldier was, nothing more.)

Just got done watching it for the first time on home video.
Not even the arduous process of watching a movie with my parents hampered it.
Only reason I'm not confidently saying it's the best movie Marvel has ever done is because Guardians of the Galaxy was really really REALLY good. It's a toss-up between those two.

Loved the first Captain America movie. Hated the dog shit out of this one.
But, oh well... at least with this one being such a huge hit I can have hope that they'll keep making Cap movies for a good long time, which'll hopefully produce more Cap movies that I can actually enjoy.

What didn't you like about it?
Particularly if you loved the first one I mean.

I didn't like anything to do with the Winter Soldier. I didn't like how bland and boring Batroc was. I didn't like how there was so much of Black Widow and so little of Sharon Carter. I didn't like what they did with Jasper Sitwell. I REALLY didn't like the complete lack of Hawkeye.

Don't know what to tell you about the first one, except you must have hated Captain America comics for awhile. Were you expecting GSP to be bounding around using a terrible Pepe Le Pew accent? They literally just introduced Sharon in this movie. Give it time. Sitwell's so minor and obscure I'm amazed to hear anyone care about his treatment one way or another. A Hawkeye appearance would've been nice, but also would've felt crammed in there for the sake of cramming it in there in my view. Plus, it might've cut into Falcon's time on-screen; and the hell with that.
But fair enough, that's your opinion and you're welcome to em. Besides, yours and my taste in movies are WORLDS apart anyway. That's no knock by the way, diffstrokes and all.

Damn, did my opinion differ from you guys. But then again, I can't stand Captain America. Then why enter this thread? Because I had an opinion and this is a discussion board. I admitted that my stance was biased, but that doesn't take away the fact I hated this movie. It's not like I'm calling anyone an idiot for liking Cap or this movie nor am I trying to hijack the thread in a direction I prefer (Guardians of the Galaxy was amazing and here's every single thing GOTG does better!!!!!111!!!!!!!!11). I just stated my opinion, but as it differed from the majority, I seemingly should have kept my mouth shut. Good to know in future.

Chris Evans is contracted through until Avengers 3 and has stated he'll be taking a break from acting when his contract is up, so chances are we've only got one more Cap movie before Bucky or Falcon take over as Cap.

Yeah, it's my favourite of the Marvel universe films. It just fills every want I have in a big time comic book blockbuster movie. That's exactly it. On top of that, Steve Rogers is just being written incredibly well in the MCU, and Chris Evans is just knocking it out of the park.

I saw it yesterday for the first time, and it was just OK for me. A good change of pace, but nothing I would cheer for. The bedside scene was the best one, the action scenes were ok. {Spoiler}The stuff with Fury and Pierce was extremely predictable. I can't blame the Winter Soldier stuff for being predictable, because I knew about it beforehand, but I think they foreshadowed it pretty well. I don't think my perception was helped that I saw Dredd shortly after, and thought it was a much better action movie.

I will admit though, one thing I'm really starting to not like in these SH movies {Spoiler}{Spoiler}No real ending for your movie? Just blow everything up like Michael Bay on steroids Maybe there's no way around it, but it is damn predictable

See, I liked Dredd, but Cap is head&shoulders better to me. I think part of the reason I liked Dredd more is just the general direction that Marvel Phase 2 has gone. Most of Phase 1 really felt like the movies were truly self-contained. There were references and links, sure, but aside from the end-credits stingers, if they never made another Marvel superhero movie, those movies could all stand on their own. I could watch Iron Man or Thor or Hulk or, to a lesser extent, the first Captain America movie and feel like I got a full story out of it. Phase 2 doesn't feel like that, each movie feels more and more just sequel bait for a movie that won't even be out for several years. Guardians was mostly an exception, probably because Marvel wasn't as confident so they put more into the movie. The Winter Soldier was the worst for me, the character was practically non-existent in the first half, and the second half was just a build to him being in another movie in the future. He didn't have a full arc in the movie named after him. It's "middle-movie syndrome" to me, a big reason why I don't like the Hobbit movies. Dredd told a full story, from start to finish, didn't waste time trying to throw in multiple subplots or sequel bait. Atmospherically, it was just as good to me on less than a third of the budget.

Great freaking movie. I can't really think of too many gripes I had. I would've liked Alan Silvestri to return, but that's just a small nitpick. The best solo MCU movie since Iron Man.

The exact same crap people are complaining about here is what tens of thousands were begging *for* as recently as a few years ago.

Except for maybe complaining about Hawkeye in general, but that's such a minor thing. Overall though, I always hate this statement when someone makes it. It's such a lazy way to ignore what anyone says by pretending that everyone follows some hive mind and the exact people who are criticizing something now were those who were clamoring for the same thing before. "People said ______" and "People wanted _____" mean jack all, you can find someone who wants anything at all, it makes no difference whatsoever on what any individual person is saying.

The one thing the standalone movies suffer from is the lack of the "BIG ACTION SCENE AT THE END!" like the Avengers had. I think Winter Soldier was really good, probably better than the first one but those goes for all the movies w/the exception of Avengers, I want that big action scene at the end ala Avengers, the scene that lasts a good 5-10 minutes.

I want to agree with you about Dredd but the problem I have with Dredd has everything to do with me seeing The Raid before I saw it. And I agree about Phase 2 in general, though I understand the reasons why they write the movies like that now. Now, with Winter Soldier I do wish he got a little more to do. Though I get writing wise why he didn't. With the way I interpreted the movie it literally was "Captain America: The Winter Soldier." As in Captain America is actually the winter soldier by definition and not...The Winter Soldier. Looking at it that way I didn't have a problem with the nominal Winter Solder being more of a weapon on a leash.
