He was said to be Vinces pet project and I believe it due to how quickly his push simmered. Even if they stopped his push, you'd think that he would just stay at the level that he attained (imo, that's the way it should be) and only be jobbed out to main eventers and upper midcarders. Idk why they depushed him as far as they did.

This is how I imagined the conversation went sometime around July 2013 and since then Triple H has had to hide the existence of The Fandango.

Because that was his debut and it would not made sense to have a new guy they hype up only to have him lose his first match. THANK GOD THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN TO ANYONE ELSE ON THE CARD

I'm certain I'm alone in this but Fandango's WrestleMania 29 entrance for me was a real "this guy could be a megastar" moment. His downfall in my view is 100% WWE's fault.
