From reading the book and watching the movie, I can't wait for this. I didn't even know about this one until last night, when I saw the commercial for it. I'm right there with you on being excited for this one. I loved the book and the movie. The book went into more detail about the controversy surrounding Dallas Carter.

From reading the book and watching the movie, I can't wait for this. If nothing else, it should be fascinating. I know very little about the Carter High School football team other than that they were the villains in the movie adaptation of "Friday Night Lights" and the "Carter High" movie which occasionally pops up on my Netflix recommendations queue has one of the most laughably bad trailers ever. But I'm intrigued by the story and I've tried not to reach too much about it, so as not to spoil it for myself when "What Carter Lost" airs tonight.

I honestly didn't know about the robberies until tonight. What an unbelievably stupid thing those guys did. So much talent and it is a true shame that the legacy of that 1988 team is permanently tarnished and their championship was vacated. I am glad however that the guys who were arrested for those robberies got their lives in check after they were released from prison.

I am glad however that the guys who were arrested for those robberies got their lives in check after they were released from prison. If there was one thing I didn't like about "What Carter Lost" is how the third act was the documentary trying SO HARD to make you feel bad for the players involved in the robberies. I'm glad they got their lives back on track and seem to have figured things out, but not for one second do I feel sorry for them getting jail time for committing a multitude of armed robberies. Other than that, I thought "What Carter Lost" was pretty good. As I've said in the past, my favorite editions of 30 for 30 are the ones in which I learn a new story or a new angle is shed on a classic story. That's why, even as a Celtics fan, I found little interest in "Celtics/Lakers: Best of Enemies"; yet I was enthralled by "The Gospel According to Mac" or "Big Shot," because I knew so little about the stories of Bill McCartney or John Spano beyond the headlines. But I overall liked "What Carter Lost" because my knowledge of the Dallas Carter football team was limited to them being the villains in the film adaptation of "Friday Night Lights" and having their own movie in the laughably bad looking "Carter High."

Man, Tommy Morrison went to hell quickly.
A lot more depressing than I thought it'd be.

Jesus. So many 30 for 30s are about falls from grace but damn, Morrison might have the crown for that. Hard to feel sorry for him though, as he had countless wake-up calls that he completely ignored. It's weird watching a story about a guy that so many people around him put so much weight into him being a star, and now it's just mostly a source of sadness. That he got AIDs and couldn't box anymore and did drugs and got arrested all the time and fell apart at the end. It's sad for them, and poetic and fitting for him.

the part where Tommy Morrison had gotten clean and was taking his HIV medicine and was doing really well only to decide that HIV/AIDS wasn't a real thing and he didn't have it so he stopped taking his medicine again was wack. I think that at that point he wanted to die.
