Thought he always did a good job. In my opinion he could have made it if his football career didn't take off. Watts would have had a field day with him

Greene's enthusiasm for wrestling was off the charts. He was kind of hilarious to me, because he was like a little kid living his dream of being a wrestler.

He didn't get hyped, he stayed hyped.

Even though Mongo had more ring time than Greene did, I think Greene was a vastly better wrestler. I agree that had football not worked out, he'd have been able to make the transition into wrestling easy.

I'm not gonna lie fellas, watching all the old Nitros and matching PPVs/Clashes makes me realize one thing...Greene was fun as hell to watch. I had Slamboree 96 on VHS when I was a kid and he had a crazy ass appearance on that show that I didn't have context for until recently. That dude was so stoked to be there.

I never got why WCW had to cancel him teaming with Goldberg at BatB 1998 just because Goldberg won the title.

That bout is the one I always think of when it comes to Greene in WCW. I know he did other things but that stands out, as a hot HOT crowd and a brief little hurrah for WCW as he and the Horseman get one over on the nWo for a change.

I like to imagine Mongo on the phone with Greene telling him how great dubya see dubya is. They got the greatest wrestlers in the world today! There's this guy Bobby THE STAIN that you're gonna hate, but you can just make fun of 'im all you want, it's encouraged! You gotta come down my friend, this is where the big boys play!

I never got why WCW had to cancel him teaming with Goldberg at BatB 1998 just because Goldberg won the title. I think there's more to it than just Goldberg being in possession of the title. Greene was a longtime WCW supporter and very good in-ring, but his previous season that year didn't make him as much of a bonafide celebrity hot property as he was in the summers of '96 and '97. Plus, given your main event was the two biggest personalities in the NBA at that time, putting Greene in there with the champ kind of makes WCW look like the company where athletes team up with wrestlers. I think it was the right call in that regard. Did Greene ever do a wrestling fan convention? Seems like he'd be a fun guy to have at one of those.

Yeah obviously he wasn't refined but Kevin Greene just had a lot of enthusiasm, fun, and just natural athleticism in the ring in stark contrast to Mongo.

I never got why WCW had to cancel him teaming with Goldberg at BatB 1998 just because Goldberg won the title. I'm pretty sure it had more to do with his NFL team telling him that they wouldn't let him play if he continued to wrestle for WCW. But yeah he was much better than Mongo in the ring.
