Beyond Wrestling were forced to cancel their "Makin' Moves" show in Providence, RI today (scheduled to feature The Juicy Product & Kimber Lee vs. The Kingdom), as there was a shooting outside Fête Music at around 1am this morning, and as a result, the Providence Board of Licences shut down the venue until Wednesday. Beyond held a free food event outside the venue and a meet and greet with some of the wrestlers who were supposed to be on the show, and will refund ticket holders as soon as they get the money back from the show. www.turnto10.com/story/26647131/providence-board-of-licences-to-hold-emergency-hearing-on-local-nightclub

Wow, that's nuts. I almost went to this, but had work. Perhaps if they reschedule I'll go. Pretty shocking as I've been there a lot and while it isn't the safest area in the world I'd hardly expect 13 shots to be fired there.

Sucks for all involved. This show was getting hyped up pretty well and everything.

The most literal example yet of someone shooting and completely destroying kayfabe.

Shitty situation. News of the shooting wasn't made public until around 12:30pm, just 30 minutes before call time. There was an emergency meeting with the board of licences going on while we were starting to line up for the show. Drew, the promoter, did the best he could to keep everyone up to date with what was going on. They tried finding other venues to get the show in, but finding room for a couple of hundred people on a Sunday afternoon proved to be a bit much. They did hold a very casual meet and greet session, with most of the workers selling merch. My son and I hung out for about a half hour before heading home. Everyone in attendance was disappointed, but understand that it was just a lousy situation that couldn't be changed. They definitely made lemonade with all of the lemons they were given.
At the moment, Beyond's next show is supposed to take place at Fete Music on Sunday, October 26th. At the moment, it hasn't even been officially announced so everything is kind of up in the air. They were having a show, Beerly Legal, on October 12th, but that was canceled over the weekend due to an issue with that venue. A bunch of us have gotten together and agreed that we don't want a refund for today's ticket costs. Drew probably lost his shirt today, so I'd rather see them keep the money.

The most literal example yet of someone shooting and completely destroying kayfabe. A real miscarriage of justice!

As expected, Beyond is down quite a bit of money after not being able to run yesterday. Drew mentioned on Facebook that "Because of yesterday's incident our organization is out over $2,000 with roughly 45 wrestlers forfeiting more than $5,000 in bookings fees" Absolutely brutal. They're currently scrambling to find a new home for shows in case they are unable to run Fete. So, if you've ever given any thought to checking out Beyond, this would be a good time to show support and maybe buy a dvd or two. lookmanofans.com/store/dvds/
