Hulk Hogan? The Rock? Austin? Andre? Flair? John Cena? HHH? Vince McMahon?
Will all these names be forgotten in the relatively short period of just 100 years? If not then who will popular history remember?
To clarify I'm sure the future nerds of the IWC (aka our equivalents in the future) will still be able to look up info on them. But have any had such an impact that there legacy will be known beyond just nerd folk like us?

Hogan without a doubt. Cena possibly because he was on top for a long time. The Rock I could see because he became a movie star. Austin im not so sure about because while he made an impact it was relatively short. HHH/Vince were the owners of the WWE so if it is still there in 100 years then yes, Andre im not sure

100 years is a long time. Outside of politicians, prominent businessmen, and super elite athletes, not many are remembered. Especially in the entertainment world. How many movie stars and popular musicians can you name from 1914?

I'm still of the belief that Vince will be cryogenically frozen under Titan Tower and will still be with us (or whoever's around then) in 100 years. He's probably funding the research out of his own pocket!!

How many movie stars and popular musicians can you name from 1914? The advances in technology and archival of content changes this dynamic quite a bit. Sure, we may not remember that many entertainers from the early 20th century, but look at how that changes around the 50s or so.

Definitely a fair point, but on the same idea, that means there will be that many more names over-saturating the pool of famous people. Instead of Charlie Chaplin, there's going to be 50 or100 Charlie Chaplins in every decade. As time goes on, there is just more and more famous people entering the scene. Although they'll probably always remember the early entertainers. I'd argue 50 years from now, more people are still gonna know who Elvis than any musician of the modern era. In that vein, I bet Hogan will still be known, maybe Rock and Austin, but probably no one else.

Pro wrestling will be long dead by 100 years, so probably no one.

More preserved archival footage, and being digitally backed up, means legacies and careers of performers/athletes can live on seemingly forever. I read an article not too long about about the BBC trying to get as much backing up as possible done before their machinery that can play the earliest film recordings they have deteriorates and just stops working due to age, and the film tapes from snapping when being played again. Digressing there lol, but in the age of instant video and assuming the Network is around in a century, all the names that have been brought up already will be remembered. And Bret, unless Aurora's kids reignite the feud with the Harts, with Natalya playing Stu

I know all of my friends and my parents friends were talking about Frank Gotch, George Hackenschmidt and Ed "Strangler" Lewis when I was growing up.

How many movie stars and popular musicians can you name from 1914? DW Griffith and Charlie Chaplin are the first to come to mind. Breaking them down broadly into reason why they're remembered one made A HUGE film shortly after 1914 that was also very controversial. The other had a signature character that was in many, many short. He also later worked on bigger and longer projects much later in his career. I tried to make them as easy as possible to apply to possible wrestlers/wrestling personalities. One thing that really helped Chaplin in being memorable was his longevity. I could see that being similar to how Hogan has been in the spotlight for so long.

Ric Flair will be remembered 100 years from now for the match he wrestled the week before.
Don't judge him he's got 26 alimony checks to pay.
