Didn't TNA tape some shows for November? If so, BFG is just a filler show. It's a shame this will be their worst BFG with the little effort they've put into it.

Technically, TNA as a whole doesn't matter.

It doesn't matter if BFG doesn't matter.

Technically, TNA as a whole doesn't matter. I was going to say TNA ppvs never mattered, but this sums it up very nicely.

Bound for Glory went from TNA's version of Wrestlemania to Insurrextion in one year. Pretty impressive if you ask me.

The thing with Bound For Glory is that it never really felt like "the most important show of the year" like TNA wanted it to. It never feels any different from the non-gimmick PPV's like Destination X or Lockdown. Aesthetically it feels like just another wrestling PPV with nothing special to stand out about it and TNA just decided arbitrarily that it was going to be their Wrestlemania or Starrcade.
But there was something special about both Mania and Starrcade. Wrestlemania had the build, history, and the spectacle of it all, especially in the 80's and the 00's. It was WWF's first real PPV and it often gets celebrities (real celebrities, not D-list reality show stars and washed up athletes). While Starrcade lost a lot of its luster near the end of WCW's life, it was the "Holiday Tradition" (first Thanksgiving, then Christmas/New Years') and a logical climactic supercard for the end of the year.
But Bound For Glory? It's the special show because TNA tells us it is. The only thing special about BFG 2014 is that it's going to be in Japan and while the Hall has a lot of professional wrestling history, it's a really tiny venue.

I maintain that BFG 2006 - or at least, moments of it - felt like a real, honest-to-God, 'THIS SHOW MATTERS' show, especially in the main event. Sting's entrance alone makes me think 'man, this company came so close...' As for BFG, I am reminded of in Mick Foley's book when he notes that he was in a territory taping so far ahead of time that a tag team was bragging about beating him for the titles when he hadn't even won them.

I put BFG 2006 up there with any other ppv. It was perfect, it closed the Jarrett vs Sting feud, which lasted a year, it even had real stipulations, Jeff left tna for a long time after that. It gave us Angle in an intense face off against Joe. The ending of the paparazzi series. The personal and hard hitting match between Christian and Rhyno, those promos about Rhyno being an alcoholic and Christian being his friend were awesome, the best part was Christian saying he was God. The paparazzi series battle royal with Nash doing commentary. The cage match AJ and Daniels had with LAX...

I think the reason Bound for Glory never felt like a Wrestlemania was because TNA kept telling me it was a "Wrestlemania". You have to let things happen organically. Like pushing a wrestler as the " next big thing", it almost always backfires. You have to let things work out on their own and unfortunately for TNA they didn't let it. And in this day and age I don't know if they could. Things move so quickly these days that it's hard.
Plus, to echo the sentiments of a few other people: TNA never mattered.

Welcome to TNA, were the titles are made up and the PPVs don't matter. In TNA's defense, this could just as easily be said about WWE right now.

Nothing matters anymore. TNA is a lame duck even if they somehow stay on TV.

Its pretty much gonna be Wrestle 1 presents Bound For Glory featuring tna, I bet that most of the tna guys are gonna put the Japanese stars over.

While I think the peak of BFG was from 2006-2008 (the years where I felt they did manage to capture that 'big fight feel' and had fairly good crowds), things had admittedly tailed off since then. All the same, I did think TNA managed to keep it as one of their stand-out shows even if not the top one.
This year, though, man. It's a husk. Not even in terms of possible match quality; it's simply a BFG show in name only and not a shred of it is going to be meaningful to TNA in general.

Welcome to TNA, were the titles are made up and the PPVs don't matter. I'm reminded of that game with WCW clips playing in the background, and all of the hints that it's wrestling were WWF ones. That sums up TNA.

It felt a little special anyway with Joe vs Lyger, Styles vs Daniels, a monsters ball and ultimate X match also.
