If you're a Diva you can have a buttress face but you're paraded as some kind of 'everyman fantasy figure', yet they're always boasting about their female audience and they have a roster with some fairly good looking guys on it, given individual tastes, yet they make nothing of it.
Surely these guys should be actively promoted as sex-symbols and targeted at female audiences an do photoshoots and interviews for female-targeted magazine publications the same way as boy bands do. It just seems odd that they take no advantage of this whatsoever but almost every Diva they've ever had they treat and promote like everyone in the world must want to have sex with them.

The stuff WWE doesn't recognize wouldn't fit in the WWE Warehouse.

They should give Seth an erotic wrestler gimmick where he wears too tight trunks, uses sexual moves and his matches feature gratuitous crotch closeups.

With people like Jeff Hardy and to a smaller degree Face Punk, they sort of targeted the characters to be liked by teenagers in that way given their (in comparison to other wrestlers) alternative looks, but I agree.
I mean, Thin Baller -the ex Devitt- has to be pushed for his looks in this world, surely?
I mean I'd prefer it if looks didn't matter, but in the actual WWE this would never happen, so yes, the double standard is weird...I mean, Vince LOVES good legs so I'd imagine he'd push that more on the TV show, get Mark Henry's calves out and watch the WWE Universe swoon.

Because the WWE, much like a homophobic frat boy, seems ridiculously afraid of being accused of homosexuality that they'll go out of their way to suggest that guys like Ziggler and Miz are hideous.
Occasionally though, a guy like Shawn Michaels or Roman Reigns comes among that fits their ideal of male beauty so perfectly that they'll let their walls down; becoming overbearing and a little worrying in their compliments and presentation.
...They also have a weakness for a nice pair of legs.

They're already oiled up, half-naked and touching each other. What else needs to be done?

Because for every female you draw in with a sex symbol male superstar, you'll likely lose 2 straight male fans along with it.
Also given how easily accessible this kind of thing is elsewhere, I don't think an overemphasis on sex belongs in wrestling at all, with men or women.

You know... with the way WWE is, it's not really necessary to out and out promote their men as sex symbols. Take a trip around tumblr and female dominated forums sometime. Screen caps, candid photos and assessments galore. The show itself is more than enough. The Shield's friendship, personalities and bromance in particular catapulted them into wet dream status before their looks even registered. And how many times do you see the camera pan to women in the audience wearing shirts and garb they made themselves professing their love/lust for one superstar or another? I'd rather the WWE focus on good, logical storytelling and entertaining matches than trying titillate me.

It just seems odd that they take no advantage of this whatsoever but almost every Diva they've ever had they treat and promote like everyone in the world must want to have sex with them. Call it the 1996 Shawn Michaels effect. When your demo is mostly men and adolescent boys, the last thing you should do is paint your company as some kind of male model calendar, because said fanbase will reject them out of combinations of jealousy to it not being what they want out of wrestling (like Michaels' shtick in 96). There's enough soulless hunk bullshit catered to shallow women out there as is. I think making a concentrated effort to manufacture it in wrestling and create that division would not be wise. To me, it'd be the equivalent of putting dudes who look like Duck Dynasty on girls' favorite reality shows, talking trucks, hunting, beer and other stereotypical guy horseshit. That would ruin the show for them at the expense of trying to cater to a shallow market who doesn't even like the core product in the first place. Wrestling is best as it is. Men and women, as fans, can appreciate it for what it is. And those who just want shallow visuals can still do so alone without the narrative forcing it on everyone else.

When the Holy Grail demographic stops being men 18-49, you may be onto something.

You don't have to make their sex appeal part of the show but I think it's strange how it isn't marketed at all. TV actors, movie stars, musicians don't necessarily play the 'I'm so sexy' roles in their day jobs but they're marketed towards the audience through other vehicles in that way. The guys in WWE don't seem to be at all which seems to be a huge blind-spot in their marketing and promotional strategy.
They're happy to let Diva's be the pin-up icons of teenage boys why not let the superstars be the pin-up icons for teenage girls. One they seem to actively encourage to a point of saturation and the other they bizarrely seem to want to deny exists. As if they're concerned floating the idea would seem a bit "gay"

One they seem to actively encourage to a point of saturation and the other they bizarrely seem to want to deny exists. As if they're concerned floating the idea would seem a bit "gay" And the idea too is that women will watch something that isn't so much catered towards them, whereas the moment you start taking notice of the fact some of the guys you have wrestling are sexy and subtly start taking notice women and men might appreciate these guys wrestling? Well, that alienates and drives away the supposedly, mind-numbingly homophobic straight male demo they so desperately want, though I think WWE projects a lot of ridiculousness upon their intended audience... It's one of those things that the only money they really care about is the money coming from their shrinking demo, everyone else outside of it just seems to enjoy the product despite itself. Really, it's absurd how a company like WWE will blatantly NOT cater to people willing to spend money. I mean, from everything I've seen the most loyal and fervent members of any fanbase are usually women. If you want your shit to be talked about? If you want your shit to have people who will ride-or-die and don't care who knows it? If you want your shit to be all over social media? You damn sure should have a sizable amount of women interested in your shit. You'd think they'd seriously try all they could to bring in women outside of one month when they want to shill that Komen snakeoil, but...
