One of the Bond authors was recently pushing for Adrian Lester to replace him. I don't see it, I still want Idris Elba. The character isn't just suave alone, he needs to have that dangerous edge to him, and Elba would provide that better.

Henry Cavill should be the new 007.
They'll end up inevitably rebooting and recasting Superman anyway, so he may as well be James Bond.
He's only 32 so they could get at least a half dozen Bond movies out of him.

He's 43 this month, and if Bond films keep being a 3-4 year gap, he won't be Bond til he's 46. He'll literally maybe have 2 or 3 movies in him. Craig would've had more if not for the MGM bankruptcy.

Pretty sure there was a report that came out around the time of Skyfall that Craig had signed on for two more films, so the next Bond movie after Spectre would be his last one.

Eh, I don't mind Bond being a bit older, we did get Moore into his late 50's. If not Elba then my second ideal Bond would be Tom Hardy, then maybe David Oyelowo, then Michael Fassbender. They'd all be better than Cumberbatch, who I still think would be a perfect villain.

Physically, the book James Bond is based on these two guys Hoagy Carmichael Ian Fleming Described in the books (from Wikipedia) thusly - in Casino Royale, Vesper Lynd remarks, "Bond reminds me rather of Hoagy Carmichael, but there is something cold and ruthless." Likewise, in Moonraker, Special Branch Officer Gala Brand thinks that Bond is "certainly good-looking ... Rather like Hoagy Carmichael in a way. That black hair falling down over the right eyebrow. Much the same bones. But there was something a bit cruel in the mouth, and the eyes were cold."[6] The movies have taken some liberties with the character, such as making him occasionally Scottish (actually was given a Scottish background in the books by Fleming AFTER the Connery movies came out) and occasionally blonde, not to mention updating the setting from the post-WWII/Cold War era. Bond has always been white though, which makes sense considering he comes from an old family, with a coat-of-arms and family estate and all. You have to jump through some unnecessary narrative hoops and alter the character's background to have a black actor make any sense for that part. If you want a movie featuring a suave black British spy, I'm all for it, but let James Bond be James Bond. Idris Elba is totally deserving of his own iconic character to play and should be as much of a household name as any actor who has played Bond, but he is not Bond.

I would be okay with Idris Elba if they finally acknowledged the theory of James Bond being a code name, but I think Skyfall pretty much put the kibosh on that.

It can still apply to this continuity if Craig leaves or makes a supreme sacrifice and they decide it's better to conceal future agents in the feild with his name in some kind of honor to him

Ya, everyone always talks about how awesome those Moore movies were when he was in his 50's EDIT: I'm also a big fan of the Elba as Bond idea

i was wondering when there was the announcement of the theme song, they recorded it several weeks ago too
also the next one is the 25th movie, so ..... INSTRUMENTAL REMIX of the bondian themes for that one!
and another thing, do some official graphic novel adaptions of the whole set of movies, i know that some have had that treatment already but this would be a nice collectors thing to get

I love Ellie Goulding, but she's on way too many soundtracks.
Sam Smith? Meh. Never been a fan.

perhaps elle goulding with ..... BASTILLE! he's left field smith's voice is an interesting one, should make quite a mix those two, and since i think that bond themes are untouchable i'll always be interested in them!
YES EVEN THAT ONE

Sam Smith has a nice enough voice, but John Newman would have been even better.

I wish I could feel excited by this but the Craig bond movies have largely being shit and boring.
I miss the goofiness of the older Bonds.

f*** off Sam Smith. Why does that boring one trick pony get to do a Bond theme. It'll be some sad crap about all the hearts Bond has broken.
If you can't tell, I'm not a fan of this decision.
