K, suggested this to some other FAN users. I know Abyss' name inspires nothing but cringes anymore, but still, as a fantasy scenario I think this could be fun. Goes like this:
Abyss takes several months off to heal and loser weight. His return is hinted at with cryptic promos where he promises a "day of reckoning" is coming for TNA. Upon his return he sports a new look that is not blatantly copied from Kane. His return feud is with, of all people, Knux, who refuses to be intimidated by the monster. Knux gets in the ring with the rest of The Menagerie and calls Abyss out, but Abyss doesn't rise to the bait and taunts Knux telling him the circus is "About to go topsy turvy." The Freak and Crazzy Steve turn on Knux, beating him down and allying themselves with Abyss, after which they both adopt darker, more deranged looks and take on more maniacal personalities in the ring. This leads to a one-on-one match with Abyss facing Knux and the henchman banned from ringside. But Abyss still wins when Havok comes to ringside and attacks Rebel, signifying that she is also allying with Abyss.
Abyss dubs his new faction The Asylum, declaring them to be his "instruments of destruction" and tasks them with wreaking as much chaos as possible. Abyss and Havok destroy Knux and Rebel in a mixed tag match. Havok tries to capture the KO title, while Crazzy Steve and The Freak try to go for the tag belts. Abyss makes a bid for the WHC. After those programs boil out, they turn their focus to Jeff Hardy; they start constantly provoking him, trying to goad him into "losing control" so he will become Willow again, with the ultimate intent of recruiting him into their ranks. They may also target Samuel Shaw, trying to get get him to turn psycho stalker again and also join them.
That's as far as I've gotten. But I still think it could be cool if done right.
