Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports the Marlins and Christian Yelich have agreed to a seven-year, $49.57 million contract extension. Without a no trade clause. Given who his owner is, I hope he's still just renting down there. he's probably trying to talk yelich into buying a house right now so give it a couple of days

Watch Spring Training makes me realize just how much I've missed Baseball.

Sigh....
Watching MLB Network right now and KC/SD is in the first.
You guys out west are spoiled as hell. You get Vin Scully and Dick Enberg on the regular. So pleasant to listen to both of them do games.
Also why isn't Enberg still doing football. Used to love him doing AFC games while I was younger.

(Kelly's Show) "No, no! We love the production! I love your production, damn the standings! Now, you go out and buy that house! You'll be a part of our team forever! "Now remember! Gold Gloves! Run production! Doubles! "He's gone. I traded him this morning."

The Tampa Bay Rays will honor the late Don Zimmer by retiring his No. 66 during a pregame ceremony at Tropicana Field on April 6 against the Baltimore Orioles.

According to Brandon Phillips the stat geeks in the office are ruining the game. Hates OBP being important and runs and RBI not.

Honestly, if I were in Vegas at any point this preseason, I'd be putting money down on the Indians and Mets to hit over on the O/U for wins this season. I think the Tribe is a playoff team, and the Mets will fight it out for the second wild card to the end of the season. I'm not sure where they stand right now, but if the way all the people on MLB's XM channel and MLB Network are talking about them is to be believed, I'd bet the under on the Marlins. Look, I love their outfield as much as anybody else, but why are so many people picking them to win 85+? No Fernandez for half the year, somewhat shaky rotation after that, mediocre infield, and no minor league depth because they brought up almost all their prospects last season. Finishing at .500, sure, but a playoff team? No. Are analysts just that enamored with any team that makes a lot of offseason moves? (by the by, don't get me wrong: the Marlins DO have a lot of young talent and, if everything goes right, they can definitely be in the race. I'm just perplexed why so many people see them as a lock)

According to Brandon Phillips the stat geeks in the office are ruining the game. Hates OBP being important and runs and RBI not. Runs are definitely important, but for the team: it's why OBP is so much more important than RBIs, which are almost entirely team reliant. Getting on base produces more runs for your team, full stop. I find that anti-sabermetrics people just don't bother learning why the hell people use saber metrics in the first place, and how you analyze each stat. They just hear something that isn't "Average/HRs/RBIs", plug their ears, and start humming, because...reasons? Besides, batting average, runs, and RBIs are stats, too, just like any saber stat; they just tell you different information when you're evaluating a player.

Well, hey, as an Indians fan, it worked out great when they put Cory Snyder and Joe Carter on the cover....oh, wait.

I do have to say, preseason or not, the Mets slapping the Yankees around twice in four days puts a smile on my face.

I feel bad for Curt Ford, but the reality is that St. Louis seems like one of the worst places on earth. If I were him, I would have moved away by now.
